LSF 2005
Well this is the long overdue second press release. I must say that this is going to be a great year, and we are having a great response from riders all over the southeast. I have talked with riders coming from the following states: Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, Texas, and of course the great state of Louisiana. As we are getting things together I wanted to go ahead and let everyone know the schedule of events at their current status (schedule is subject to change):
Thursday arrive in the beautiful metropolis of Monroe, LA
- Ride if there is time and hang out at the marina until??
- Thursday night meet and greet at Monroe’s Top Gun Night Club
-no cover and awesome drink specials
-club closes at 2am so you are welcome to stay and enjoy the company of other riders and locals until that time. Top Gun will have drink specials for us that night. 18 years old and up to enter.
Friday wake up get some breakfast and head to the water
- Hyperlite sales rep Jeremy Baker will be on hand for on-water demos from 10 am till 4 pm. Jeremy will have his brand new 2005 X-star and Mr. 009 himself Matt Sims in tow in order to give the riders in the demo the greatest equipment and boat available. You may know Matt for his recent presence in the video Downside Up. If you would like to reserve a spot on the list for the demo day please contact Clark Dudley at clark@memphisboatcenter.com or 901-202-7229.
- For everyone else it will be a day to free ride and enjoy all of the smooth water that the Ouachita has to offer. If you have room on your boat for extra riders or would like to participate in spring fling and can’t bring a boat I encourage you to post that info under this press release so that people will be able to meet and ride.
- As the day draws to a close we will gather around the marina to hang out and meet other riders and share stories about previous years.
- Friday night we will be having a wakeboarding video party at the Library Lounge starting roughly around 9:30. The Lounge has pool tables, dart boards, and it will also be $2.00 shot night with no cover. 18 years old up to enter.
- If you feel you are in the mood to do a little dance and make a little noise we will return to Top Gun for those type of activities after the video viewing. There will be a $5.00 cover at Top Gun.
Saturday wake up and hit the water for a morning and early afternoon of free riding
- There will be activity around the marina all day long every day but Saturday is special in that we will have Double up contest. This contest has occurred in the past but we starting a little later this year so every one gets in some riding beforehand. The contest will start at 3:30 with the amateur division (15 years and younger). It will be limited to 10 riders and a $20 entry fee, winner takes all. Following that up will be the open division that will be limited to 25 riders and the $30 entry fee will be shared between the biggest air and the most technical trick.
- * Any insurance money needed to cover the contest will be taken out of the pot before the prizes are awarded.
- * If you would like to pre-register for the event to ensure that you will have a spot in the contest contact Clark Dudley at clark@memphisboatcenter.com or 901-202-7229.
- After the contest well will all continue to hang out at the marina until???
- Saturday night we will return to Top Gun for the Luau that they are throwing in our honor starting at 9:30 and continuing until 2am.
Sunday wake up all the sleepy heads to check out of the hotel and try to squeeze on last ride in before every one heads home.
Hotels
In years past most people have stayed in the Holiday Inn Holidome or the La Quinta right next door. This year unfortunately there is a soccer tournament in town the same weekend so I was unable to reserve a block of rooms but there are rooms available in both hotels. I recommend using Hotels.com to locate a room; I have found that this is the best way to get the cheapest rooms. If you cannot find a room at either of those locations any hotel on or close to Hwy 165 will be convenient to the site and to the nighttime activities.
More Hotel Info:
La Quinta Inn Monroe
1035 Us 165 Bypass South
Monroe LA 71203
Red Roof Inn West Monroe
102 Constitution Dr
West Monroe LA 71292
Holiday Inn-Holidome
(318) 387-5100
1051 MLK J
Monroe, LA 71203
Camping
Camping is available at the marina it will be $10 a night for a tent and $20 dollars a night for a Camper/RV. There is only one power pole so it is a first come, first serve basis for the RV’s. There is no water or drainage hook ups but there is a place to dump on the way out of the marina. If you are interested in camping please contact Clark Dudley at clark@memphisboatcenter.com or 901-202-7229.
Sponsors
We are still taking sponsors so if you or your company would like to participate please contact Clark Dudley clark@memphisboatcenter.com or 901-202-7229.
Questions, remarks, feedback, criticism
Please contact Clark Dudley clark@memphisboatcenter.com or 901-202-7229.

rmm025, April 21 through April 24. Most activity takes place on Saturday which will be April 23. If you live in Ruston and like wakeboarding you cannot miss LSF. Also, pass the word about LSF in the Ruston area.

| When is everyone heading down? I am leaving Friday after the g/f gets out of class and gets everything together. It kind of sucks because it is falling the weekend before finals. Oh well screw school this is way more important.

| I get out of class at 1 on Thurs. and we'll probably leave sometime Thurs. night. I can't believe we only have a couple more weeks of classes until finals - this year has flown by, but I'm definately ready for summer.

Me, Melanie, Russell, Shelley, and their X-star will be there mid-Thursday (leaving Thursday morning like 8ish), so we will be trying to ride some Thursday afternoon. Marty, I may have to hop in for a ride behind your boat as well; that thing is sick!

Just went out on the river today. (fishing not riding unfortunately). Water level is better than ideal this year. Extended forcast is looking pretty good. Water is still a little cool, but shorts should be enough warmth unless you're a wimp. This should be one of the better LSF's thus far.
Just a reminder to those of you not familiar with Moon Lake and its rules.
1. You must pay to launch your boat. Its only $3. Pay at the top of boat ramp.
2. Camping is permitted only in some areas. Best place to camp is at Marina. Just go in and ask someone about renting a spot.
3. Across the lake from the marina and loading ramp, there is shallow water and stumps. Don't go over there.
4. Just outside of Moon Lake, wait until you are well into the channel of the Ouachita River before turning right. Shallow water and stumps are also located there.
5. Louisiana law requires an observer in all boats pulling people unless you have a 7X11 mirror, which most tournament boats have. You must have at least one Coast Guard Approved vest for each passenger. Passengers 12 and under must wear a CGA jacket at all times. A throwable device (cushion or ring) is a must. A horn or whistle and a fire extinguisher must be in the boat. Also be sure your boat registration is up to date.
6. Obey no wake zones. There aren't many, but some are strictly enforced.
Multiple boating accidents within the past few years has caused a tightening of the rules and regulations of local and national boating authorities. However, the Ouachita River in the Monroe, LA, area is still one of the best places on earth to ride. The local authorities tend to not harrass you unless you're acting like a PWC operator. Be cordial to the local authorities and they will probably return the favor.
If you have any further questions regarding the Ouachita River, Moon Lake, or Monroe in general, go into the marina, sit down and buy a beer, and start asking questions. I'm certain you'll get some answers.
