i just got the new CCS the other day... WTF is up with Bam having 10 pro models at the same time? I used to think Bam was the stuff, up until he started to sell out... I mean its kinda gay, hes got all these pro boards, 2 models of shoes, his own WHEELS BEARINGS, and trucks. THey even have a Bam backpack. Its almost shamefull for me to where my Shoes anymore i've had 3 pair of his shoes cause i love them for skating I think there awsome. _________________ it puts the joe dirt in the whole |

It's called product recognition. Ever wonder why women spend $800 on a purse with the initials LV on it?
Bam is an extremely visible figure that has achieved an enormous popularity with the general public. The marketing departments for all his sponsors know that the general populace are no more than docile cows when it comes to shopping. Little kids (or even big kids) will buy a crappy piece of merchandise for outrageous amounts of money just 'cuz Bam's name is on it. |

Your right he doesn't need it but for the companies its what ever works and if they are selling enough of each model and more than expected they're gonna keep doing it. IMO, hes not the best skater nor the best role model but since hes so popular its gonna sell loads. _________________ www.Tigeowners.com

CCS!!! Wow, what a long ways they have gone. CCS (Central Coast Surfboards) started in a little building about 30 minutes from where I live. They expanding into a gigantic surf/skate/snow superstore, began their own catalogue, and sold out the cat. A little history behind that...
The thread title just caught my attention. |

I think it was his TV shows that got him known. _________________

Yeah it was definetly the show that made him so well known... Before that, the only people that knew about him were skaters. And now anyone who watches MTV knows who he is... They think its cool to wear his shoes and all the clothes he has and all that... Thats why they do it, the more they make, the more people buy... Its the way the industry works. No one said it was right but thats the way it is... _________________ Support your local boardshop...

He was at the local skateshop this past weekend, there were lines that went way out into the street and took 4 hours to get to the front. I didn't even bother going, all I saw was the craziness outside the place. _________________ www.Tigeowners.com

Everyone was probably like "Bam, like Viva la Bam... I gotta go cuz his show is sick"... More than 90% probably have never even seen his skate except for in Grind... _________________ Support your local boardshop...

Well the thing is those 90% of the people aren't watching him to skate. They're watching him do random stunts. If I were watching him on jackass and I were a non-skater I don't think I'd be downloading clips of him skating. _________________
