What are your thoughts on the LF Balance? A buddy of mine let me borrow his the other day and I loved it. In fact, I loved it so much that I went out and bought one. However, while looking for one on the net I couldn't help but notice that not all shops carry the Balance. I also don't see or hear much about them on the message boards either.
Is it that this board is just being over looked or do most people just think it's not that great of a board? I kind of think of it as LF's version of the Premier. Any thoughts?

The balance is an awesome board. I thought about getting it. Necrasson rocks.

The substance is actually almost the exact same shape as the '03 premiere. The balance isn't really compareable to another brand board because of the cupped side fins. Other companies really don't use them.

| I almost bought the balance this year, but instead opted for the Substance just cause of personal preference. I know the Balance tracks really well, and nicely compliments Gregg's balls out riding style.

I rode the Balance, and liked it quite a bit. It's a very fast board, and I don't usually like fast boards, but I did. Very responsive and edges in a hurry.
I think Necrason is more out of the spotlight than he used to be, and in general people seem to be more fascinated in riding or talking about some of the slower/big pop type of boards. Just depends on what you'd like.
Wakebrad is right on the Substance, it's a lot closer to the Premier than the Balance.

| I had a Balance UC. I was able to achieve an incredible toeside edge. Massive huge toeside jumps. I ride alot of boards and I havent gotten bigger on any other board. One problem though, the landings are really really solid on this board. Another guy said teeth rattling. I'd have to agree. Alot tricks that I would normally land on my other boards I wasnt sticking with this one. If their was something to make this board have softer landings, it would be unstoppable.

| My brother rides the Balance, and I borow it sometimes... I think it's on of the better boards to ride; fast, alot of grip (you can remove the center fin for a little loser feeling) and a great (really great) pop... I find the board alot more forgiven then my Parks, also on landings... Enjoy the board

Thanks for the feedback. I had only assumed that the Balance was LF's version of the Premirer based on the reviews I read. I actually have never ridden a Premier or a Substance. I was under the impresion that the premier had a more subtle 3 stage/continous blended rocker. This also is descibes the Balance. The reviews for the Substance say it is more of an aggressive 3 stage rocker. Since you guys have ridden them I'll take your word for it.
As for the landings being hard on the Balance, you should ride a Byerly. I've been riding Byerly's for the past two years (a 2002 and a 2001) and my knees have taken a beating. When I rode my friend's Balance last week I felt like I was landing on little puffy clouds.

| I cannot believe some of you guys saying the board lands soft.... the balance is the hardest landing board I've been on....I had the Ultra Core...I'm wondering the difference between that and the foam core if any?? parks and the premier were the softest landing boards I've been on. I got an 04 absolute and its still lands harder than the parks or the premier. premier, has been my board of choice only because i can stick everything I do with it.

I cannot believe you think the Premier lands soft! Are you talking about the 04 Premier or an older one?
I haven't spent a lot of time on the Balance, but what time I have spent on it has been quality.

| i got an 04 premier 141 dna. lands soft like Charmin toilette tissue. i havent been on a 03. but have been on a gonzalez which i assume is the same and it is not exactly buttery soft. Like I said, I love everything about the balance except the solid landings.

I really like the Balance. It seems real quick but you can still break it free for surface tricks. I took the cupped fins off and put some CDI fins on and like it even better. It looks pretty sick with 6 polished aluminum fins on it.

How soft or hard a board lands could also have something to do with the size. I may be wrong, but I think the larger the board the softer the landings. I had been riding a Byerly 137 and then demoed the Balance 135. Even going to a snaller board the landings were sofetr than the Byerly. I ended up buying a Balance 139 and have now found the perfect board for me. Even with the center fin removed this board sets up on edge and holds it, yet it releases for slides when you wnat it to.
Also, a big shout out to Performance Ski and Surf. They were $50 cheaper on this board than anyone else. I bought it late Monday afternoon and they had it at my door by Wednesday morning for the same shipping cost that most other comapnies charge for 5-7 day UPS ground. This is the second board I've purchased from them in the past 3 years. They always do their customers right!
