Hold onto the handle. Seriously, you answered your own question. Hold on tight. I have the same problems but I just hold on tight and hope the handle stays in my hand.

Your probably letting your arms out while you have the rope because that's what slows your rotation. Keep the handle in and although it might gives a tug while your upside down, if you hold on you should be able to ride away.

yea make sure you keep that handle at your waist untill you are about to land, if you let it out then when you land you have no way to take up the slack (usually you let your arms out to take up the pull) and when the rope tightens back up it will just snap the handle out. basically what Davo.FSF said
