I can't figure out why I'm afraid to try basic inverts. I have tried a backroll 2 times, but i can't get myself to do it anymore. A backroll seems more natural to me than a tantrum, but I figure once I try the tantrum, it will seem easier. I know this isn't really something that is easy to help someone with, but if you can, it would be much appreciated. _________________ So we're drinkin' drinkin' drinkin' drinkin' Coca Coca Cola, I can feel it slide right on down down, oh right on down my throat. |

well at 20+ it's more like concrete lol
just build up your confidince with the trick. find some gymnatsics place and do some bacrolls and tantrums into the foam pit
or go to some pool with a diving board, that way if you mess up it wont hurt (unless you dont like water up your nose) _________________ Wake Forest University |

| All of my worst falls were from doing butterslides/powerslides. Go for it man. Once you do one you wont believe how much it doesnt hurt. |

dude yes it is only water.
Blindside_137, I've never had a fall thats hurt like anything I've had on conrete, not even close! So HyperliteKGB, Just go out there and go for it, the worst thing that can happen is like part of you body hitting another part like knee to albow for example, or the worst knee to face, but that doesn't really happen.
Blindside_137, if that sounded harsh sorry, just trying to prove my point _________________ www.nationsfoundation.org

| HyperliteKGB, you're thinking too much and freaking yourself out. Just go out, have a fun run, and at some point during the run before you're too tired, just say Bubb Rubb it and go for it. |

| ya im with che blanc i skate a lot and would much rather fall on the concrete than on water at 20+ catching an edge or on my head. unless your downhilling without a shirt and hit a rock or get speed wobble then it would be worse then water but that doesnt happen often. |

I bought a trampoline and tried doing back flips with and without the rope. After I got comfortable with them I took it to the water and landed my first tantrum on my fifth try, I'm not bragging, just letting you know it helps a lot. _________________ go big or go home |

Man i can do backflips on my trampoline with the rope with my eyes closed (almost literally) should the tantrum really be that easy? ive landed the backroll twice and i hate it because when i spin its like i dont know where i am....then WAM i either get a face full of water or ride away _________________ money doesnt buy happiness...they should end that phrase with (just kidding) |

Yeah try it, I have a really crappy wake and I tried the tantrum and can almost land it, yet I cant even land a 360. But
But it DEFENITLY Doesnt hurt. Catching an edge hurts like 10x more. |

ScottyB_RochNY, for the most part the HS backroll and Tantrum are easier than a HS FS 3 or FS TS 3 .....
SPIN TO WIN!
with that said you need some inverts in your run so keep at it.... _________________ PEACE

I guess I don't see why its so hard. Its all mind over matter. A backroll is using the natural locomotion you builid up in your cut to flip you around. If you cut right, you don't need to to try at all.
Now I've only been boarding for around 9 months but I just decided to try it one day. Can't land 180's, can't land 3's...only w2w grabs. Well I just cut hard and hit the wake and lean over my back shoulder. Flipped right around and landed on the board.
I'm still working on the landing, but in all the times I've tried it...I've always landed on the board. So I guess if you build it up to be this complicated thing...it will be! _________________ Back to back NBA champs. |

| Try slowing the boat down to about 18 then have the driver slowly start turning the boat a bit. Depending on what kind of boat you have the outside wake may or may not curl over but if it doesn't then the turn makes it really steep so you get a weird sort of pop. I used that to learn a lot of my tricks because between the boat slowing down and turning then when you set up for the trick the boat is whipping you a bit so you get the speed for the cut, but when you land you're going really slow. |

When I first tried my driver slowed down automatically and I couldn't get myself to try it. I made him speed up and then I attempted.
