I recently went to GLTR clinic where they told me not to squat or drop my butt when I come into the wake (which was what I always thought you were supposed to do before). I've gone out a few times since then and think I'm doing better as I'm getting more air. I just saw some footage of myself from this weekend and I'm still doing it a bit and not realizing it while I'm out there. I've heard it's a bad habit to break. Just curious if anyone's overcame it on here and if ya have any tips. _________________ Cause we are strictly business and we also got our pride
And if you don't like it, I suggest you break wide
There is a difference in HOW you squat. I ride pretty squated but with a very loaded line when I hit the wake so I get a lot of pop. A lot of beginners try to emulate the squat they see and end up with bad habits. When I hit the wake even though it looks like a basic squat it feels like I am squating in the gym with like atleast ~150 lbs, this feeling leaves my squat very stiff to take all the energy from the wake to the air and not soften the transition through my knees(the squat should look like you are leaning back while sitting in a chair). The sequence is: I start with my board flat and I am standing up, then begin my squat position once I turn onto edge between my initial edge and the wake my squat will vary a little depending on the force I pull with against the boat(its a tug of war between you and the boat during a big cut)and the trick I plan on doing. When I watched my video the squat looks like I am doing a squat in a gym and go down until "seated" then am stuck there because the weight gets progressively heavier. Imagine your body being on a 45 degree pitch from the boat.
Sorry these are my randomly organized thoughts, I hope they help.....Do a search too... good luck. _________________ Hold up....Wait a minute.... Let me put some pimpin in it! mmmmph
