if you can't do w2w 180's it will be very hard to learn the 3. Make sure you pop, wait to get to the height of your jump, pull the handle to your rear hip, and pass it to the other hand. Just remember...
POP...PULL...PASS

maybe you answered your own question... I don't believe that you have to cut out far and cut in super hard and fast. A nice progressive edge will get you across the wakes with a 10-20 foot cut. The pop is where you generate the height. True, the fishing boat may hinder the height a bit, but you should still have lots of wake for a 360. Stand tall at the wake, wait until the peak of your height, and then pull the handle.
I'm in the same spot you're in. I put my first 3 down this weekend, but dropped the handle. I'm trying the backside spin, but am now thinking that frontside would be an easier handle pas to get me going.
good luck.

| well it sounds like your not pulling with both hands on the handle. when first learning the trick this helps alot. if you can, get on a trampoline and pratice spinning wiht a handle. but don't start untill your on your way down. and to start the rotaton on the trampoline, just pull the handle to your rear hip.

| hey, make sure ur spinning frontside, its a ton easier than backside. also, you dont need a ton of speed or height, the first one i landed, i landed it in the middle of the wake. its a lot harder to try to do these big. also, like they said, pull harder with BOTH hands, and itl spin ya quicker....g'luck

| yeah i think your actually spinning backside, the reason being is because when you spin frontside off the wake hs, you dont underrotate and smack your face, you'd underrotate and smack the back of your head, unless your head is on backwards...and lots of peepl get confused about the spinning lingo

I need help on my HS FS 3's too. I get the rotation every time but I can barely ever get the handle pass. I usually approach the wake with a reallly aggressive edge (more air = more time, heh) and pull with my back hand to initiate the rotation... should I be pulling with both hands off the wake or what. Also, when I land I am usually not ready for the landing. A few times my knees have buckled which really sucked... I always get the rotation around but I never land and ride away... thanks for any help

| Parks Rider, You're not attempting a front side 360 you're attempting a back side 360 because you're passing from your left hand to your right. For most people this is a lot harder rotation. Just remember you don't need a big aggressive cut, just a shorter progressive cut so you get a little more slack in the rope to get the handle pass down. Also, when you pull the rope to your hip make sure you have two hands on the handle, you need to really kick yourself around using both of your hands.

bhamglassman you don't need a big cut. Read som of the posts above, a good progressive edge will take you just as high.

Practice the handle pass with a trampoline or a milkjug. | bhamglassman wrote: | | I usually approach the wake with a reallly aggressive edge (more air = more time, heh) |
you shouldn't be too agressive with it. just use a nice progressive edge to get you across both wakes.
| bhamglassman wrote: | | should I be pulling with both hands off the wake or what. |
no, do not try and spin off the wake. if you do, it won't work. wait till you're near the peak of your jump to pull the handle. | bhamglassman wrote: | | Also, when I land I am usually not ready for the landing. A few times my knees have buckled which really sucked... | it sounds like you're not ready for the landing because you're either not getting the rotation all the way around or you're not spotting your landing. | bhamglassman wrote: | | thanks for any help | i dono if it helped, but if it did, then your welcome.

KABOOM! Ctipping to the rescue!
Heelside frontside 360.
Cut about 15 feet outside the wake. Take a progressive edge in and stand tall at the wake. Wait until you are in the air to start the rotation. Once you have gotten your pop, Pull the handle really hard to your rear hip with both hands. Only let go with your front hand for a split second. Reach around your back for your back hand, not the handle. Doing this makes sure you know where the handle is. Once you can feel the handle in both hands, let go with your back hand and look towards the boat. Cushion the landing with your knees and edge away from the wake.

ibusthard, whether you're regular or goofy, an under-rotated frontside 3 should put you on your a$$, not your face.... unless your an a$$ face or something. yeah sorry guys that was my stupid joke for the day i'm done. Lastthingusee, if he was passing left to right it would be frontside since he's goofy.

| yea, I know about the a$$plants, but he said he's passing left to right, and like you said that would be FS. I was refering to Lastthingusee's comment. I dont think he realized that this guy is goofy.

ibusthard, ohhh ok. My bad. Well now i am really confused because if he is goofy passing left to right doing faceplants then he is one messed up person. It would make sense if he was passing l to r doing a$$plants tho.

ya well i guess i was more focused on trying the jump rather than the spin but anyways that was almost a year ago. do u guys think i should just try landing in the middle of the wake rather than tryin to get all the way across? would that be easier?

CTipping you are once again wrong. If you only cut 15ft outside th quickness of your cut puts excess tension on the rope making the pass more difficult. If you take a long more mellow approach into the wake your line tension is less therefore making the pass that much easier. http://wakeboarder.com/tricks/heelside360.phtml it says slow progressive cut. Mellow just enough to clear both wakes.

Chris watch higher ed. on hs fs 3's and then come back and tell me I'm wrong. If you listen to what I'm sayign about rope tension you'll understand that a longer more mellow cut is best just like that review says. The picture is wrong the text is correct.

| I own Higher Education and Detention. 15 feet is quite wide. It's not like you need 30 feet to build a mellow edge.

| I agree with Ctipping, you DON'T need a huge cut outside to be able to throw the trick well. All you need is just a nice short cut so when you cut in you get a nice pop just enough to clear the wake. The way you get the line tension to go away to make the handle pass easier is by pulling in the handle when you pop off of the wake.
