Me and my buddies are always filming wakeboarding, or skating, and want to make a video, with music and everything. But my problem is I have a dell computer, it does have any spot for audio / video cord to plug in.
I've been told to get a firewire card ect ect...
I want to no, is there like some kind of thing i can buy for under $150 that just plugs into the computer, and that i can plug my camera into to transfer/save/edit the video.
This links shows what im talking about i believe this does what i described, but i don't really no.

you will have the best luck buying a fire wire card. It takes like 5 min to install! don't waste money on that thing from circuit city. I'm not sure thats what you really need anyway. It will be slow and EXPENSIVE compared to firewire card that you can get for way way cheaper. Firewire is your best bet. i have a jvc mini digital camera and it works great. |

no they dont. you probably don't have firewire on you video cam. I wouldn't waste your money on that though. Just go get a baisc mindv camera from costco or sommehting. |

im getting a digital camera of some sort for christmas, but i still need to get the stuff off the vhs-c tapes, and the dazzle was the easiest way, and i'll need it to get stuff off my buddies camera's to. Also it cost me nothing cause my parents said if i put all home movies onto dvd then they'd pay. so i'll still need firewire when i get a digital camera? or can i hook it up to the dazzle thing. _________________ it puts the joe dirt in the whole |

for fast and good quality video transfer you will have to shell out maybe 10 to 20 bucks for a firewire. No biggy. But if the dazzle thing has a firewire input then that may be fast enough. |

The dazzle may have a firewire input, but it will still plug into the PC through USB, unless they have newer ones, Its been a few years since I used a dazzle. You could have just got a cheapie Hauppauge WinTV card that you can capture through. |
