19' maxium, any good for wakeboarding

We have a 19' maxium boat. Are these any good for wakeboarding cause so far it has been a pain in the ass.

The wake is so wide cause the boat is wide, and soon as you put weight in it, it will no plain and the wake goes all white. So far the best wake I can get from it is when there are only 2 people in the boat cause the boat seems to plain faster and the wake gets narrower.

Also I have been told that putting a tower on this brand a boat is a pain in the ass.

Thoughts and Experiences would be great

i had a 1996 19' maxum before the boat i have now and it was an alright wake when the engine was trimmed up a little. we put an 85 lbs bag of concrete on each side under the seats and a few people. it wasnt a great wake but it was pretty good.

you need to put a 500lb fat sac in ski locker and trim motor up to get rid of whitewash. you may also want to put a hi-5 stainless prop on the boat. that was the recipe that worked for my i/o

no i didnt have a tower but i thought about a monster tower.

Try a single 500# sac as far forward as you can put it, did the trick for my buddies Regal.

Maxums are one of the easiest boats to fit towers too.. all open under the gunnels etc.. so it bolts straight on Very Happy

I put a Monster Tower on my 19' Maxum in about 4 hours, piece of cake. What we did was put one 440 in front of the rear bench and a second 440 in the front bow and I thought the wake was great, not ski boat quality but really good for an IO.

yeah we installed a monster in about 3-4 as well.

only using one 700 lb bag right now.. any more and it seems to bog down to much.

but its been a great boat

Go to walmart and buy a twin size are mattress #10 and (water bed ada Laughing

pter fits)fill it with water. I am tring this first to see what happens to the wake befor spending $$

what you are gonna want to do is 1. add a hydrofoil - it helps these smaller I/O's plain out a lot faster - and maintain speed easier at wakeboarding speed - I have heard in some cases where the hydrofoil (a reverse malibu wedge) will reduce the size of the wake, but the wake is usually a nicer shape and it the boat is on plane. 2. I would get a 17 or 19 pitch prop - probably a four blade, that will help with added weight and overall keeping the speed better - the boat wont bog down as much.

hmmmm I have a 98 19 Maxum - a friend of mine who rides tourneys expert loves my wake - its rampy but comparable to an inboard but put a sack in the bow and peeps and its sweet - I have a 5 blade 19p, that helps too - I don't trim up or anything -

thats weird I've never had a good rider get anything less that huge behind my boat......

as far as the above - I would never get a hyrofoil for a maxum - its a very heavy boat to begin with - you just need weight in the bow to balance out the motor

I put an eyeful tower on mine - easy as well - jgstools.com

1100 shipped and thats with 2 racks - it has been a great tower (2years) - I'm not crazy about how it breaks down - takes 2 people to take off -

anyone else have problems with the wood in the Maxum - I've heard the newer model are all fiberglass on the inside? some of my seats are shot and it looks like the cover over the motor is next -ski locker went in the 1st year
