Ditto on that, HC. Target boards are a piece & you're gonna have a hard time learning any type of tricks.

Definately don't get one from target. Those things don't even roll.

I'd go find a blank complete from a shop online... or check ebay. They might have good deals.

waverider*, no it won't hurt the board bad, it will scratch it but thats what happen to skateboards. just don't ride it if the road is wet. I don't know what target is but go get a cheap set up at a local skate shop.

oh, I can 3 flip crappy walmart decks but the bearings really suck. If you plan to get good then get one off ebay or some other internet store, they are generally cheap.

Waverider, you can definitely pick up fairly cheap completes off of Ebay or different online skate shops. I'll tell you this, plan on spending a considerable amount more than you would have at Target. Target boards run about $20 & you get what you pay for. At a shop or even probably on Ebay you'll more than likely drop $80 for a complete setup.

I scoped Ebay for ya & I found this shop. Their complete setups are real cheap & there's a variety of different companies & sizes to choose from.

You can absolutely skate on paved road. In fact, if it's real smooth I'll often skate on the road instead of the sidewalk.

Woah there, grasshopper, try to consolidate those thoughts into 1 post next time.

Aluminum skateboard decks are exactly what they sound like; boards made of aluminum. Supposedly they're more resistant to chipping & breaking than wood but most skaters are willing to deal with this.

The street won't mess up skate wheels like rollerblade wheels 'cuz skate wheels are usually harder & wider so they're not as prone to chipping & such.

There are dozens of skateboards in that Ebay store, I'm not exactly sure what you're talking about with that.

I bought an aluminum deck because it was cheap and light and I tend to break boads a lot but that thing sucks. I will never ride it again. It doesn't have any flex to it. It feels really akward. Just go with a standard wood deck.

Get that blind gravedigger off ebay. I've liked all of the blind decks I've had. You could get it for $70 shipped.

Whatever you do, DO NOT ride on a paved road, CONRETE ONLY....
No im kidding, you can ride a skateboard on cement, concrete, blacktop, pavement, wood, anything hard basically.
You could possibly hurt the board by riding it on pavement. Look what the pros are doing to there boards, grinding ledges and handrails, jumping 10 sets.
