Camera or Video Camera?

I cant decide which one to get.
I'm looking at the 8 mega pixels so far for camera, maybe the Minolta Dimage A2.
As for video I dont know if I would get a helmet cam, or reg. vid camera or what. I do alot of skiing and such, and would like to have both. My brother also has a vid camera so I might would be better borrowing it, but I still have to figure out how to get the video to the comp exactly too.

Which one would you suggest to start out with, and what kind/brand?
Also, just curious, who makes helmet cams and such, are they reg cams, a little smaller, what. I could just duck tape one on my helmet, that would get me some interesting looks.
