my understanding is that you can generally get good deals at the boat show. i've never been to a boat show. so for those that have, how much of a savings can you usually expect at the show?

Most dealers, like me, make about 1/3 of their sales at the boat show. Expect to save about 5-10% off the regular best deal at the show. Also, many times there is financing incentives. End of year boats, like right now, are heavily discounted.

And the best thing about the boats you will find there is that they have been trampled by raging 10 year olds and kicked and scratched and have had shoes worn inside and have been stepped on and twisted and bent and pulled on, and yanked on, and poked, and....

Bruky, LOL, Exactly right. All the little kids don't know what wakeboarding is and think of the tower as some type of monkey bar or jungle gym.

At our last home and rec show, the kid asked what the boat was made out of (an all grey Malibu LSV), and the guy working at the booth said "fiberglass covered in a thing called gel-coat" and the kid's all "oh wicked!" and went over and kicked the side of the boat and said "its not gel, its hard" and ran off with his little butt buddy.

When i purchased my boat at a boat show, the price was lower and they threw in free options that i could choose from.

DAMN, you could get a leftover 04 V-drive for that much...shiz...

I better not be telling you what kind of boat to get, but it seems to me you can find a good V-Drive for that much money that has probably been through the boat show abuse as well.

most of the time at a boat show when you buy a boat its not a floor model, those are even more discounted, and yes boat shows offer huge discounts and extras so if your going to buy a boat that would be the place to do so.
Bspoke1- Thats a pretty good price, but i would recomend a V-drive over an x-9 check out the x-2 10 or 30 before you buy just to see how you like them

I ended up ordering a new boat at the Detroit Boat show. I could have saved about 2,500 on a display model, but didn't want one everyone was crawling over. I probably saved about 15% from the prices I was getting quoted before the boat show. During the boat show the interest rate was a little better for those of us who need to finance their purchase. Good luck in the boat shopping. Another nice thing about the boat show is you can look over one brand and walk over and check out the competition. Don't just talk to the sales people talk to some of the other customers, they give some great input on the boat and equally important on the service department of the dealer. You can probably find me this year loitering around the Silver Spray Sports display, I'll be the guy with the bad hair cut and a big ol' smile as I look at the 2005's!

You won't find any "new" (last year or not) Mastercraft V-Drives for $42.4K

razor,
Not a whole lot changed between the 04 and 05. If you want some of the options from the 05, the dealer can install them. Let's see some pics of your boat!

Are you trying to say the Malibu won't be running? And I think if you compare prices of a Malibu and MC that is 4 years old, they will be pretty close.

I think I agree with Churchy
