I just got back from riding and stuck 3 in a row then went in because I was tired Thanks for the help! For those who are thinking of trying them I'll tell you what worked for me. At first I would cut in way too hard, this made the line way to tense and I got yanked forward. You have to take a really mellow cut. When I do mine I just coast in and load the line. When I pop I go straight up and get good pop. As I pop I hook the handle across face and since I cut mellow it is easy to keep there. Earlier attempts when I came around I let the handle out and every time I crashed forward. You want to pull hard down to your front hip and it will pull your body upright and on edge. Once you land this trick it comes around way easier the next time.once you stick it with a mellow cut you can slowly take it bigger. thanks to those who helped me (toothpick, phil etc)

hey guys, i tried a couple whirly's this week and i have a couple questions...
I was going plenty high and every thing bet i kept coming down to blind, does this relate back to the mellow edge thing? or am i just not holding my arm in the proper position midway through the move?
Also, should i be trying to do this move wake to wake or into the flat?

toothpick, yeah I was so pumped. I have it all figured out, but I won't ride until monday which isn't far away so I won't a have a vid of it until then colefooter,. It is on film but someone from the camp filmed it but now he is done so I'll never see that again. oh well, it seems so much easier to pull it out after the first one I ever landed. I just want one more mobe by the end of the summer, I'm thinking moby dick or wrapped KGB. i36hyperlite, your probably just putting the handle beside your head and not swiped across. If it makes it across you will just unwind. |

| Also i36hyperlite, make sure you pop first (trying to spin too soon will cause you to under-rotate), then lead the spin with your head. |

| toothpick, can you do moby dicks? If so, are they much harder than the whirly? |

I can't, never really tried them actually. I've thought about trying them, but haven't got around to it. Next time out I'll see what I can do.
I'm guessing they aren't too tough. |

| they seem to be the next mobe because it has the same rotation as a whirly but its a handle pass instead of an overhead spin. Should I keep trying the wrapped KGB or give the moby dick a couple tries? |

| I'd try the moby dick just to change it up. I'm working on the crow mobe myself. I've been able to get real close for a long time, never stuck with it enough to ride it away though. |

If I ride tomorrow I'll give moby dicks a try. Today I was just getting my whirlys consistant. I stuck a big clean whirly that when I came out I landed like a floaty tantrum the trick is easy now that I know what i'm doing. |

thanks, that sucks that you haven't rode in 2 weeks. The only thing that I didn't like about this landing is one of my claws slipped off and my binding was just hanging by one claw, that could have ended up really bad . |

| Whoa, that happened to me too, only it was just a plain liquid force binding screw. It must have been loose, but I didn't notice before it came out. Mine happened on a whirly that I crashed on, tried taking it to the flats in some rough water. It tweaked the binding plate pretty bad. |

| I'm guessing that I've tried it around 20-30 tries. I kept either having too much tension or just letting go. I stuck two more today first try so I think it is consistant now. toothpick, that sucks, luckily I landed or it could really messed my ankle up, hyperlite is sending me a new baseplate because the grips broke off so I'm riding a bit more ducked now. I tried CD PS01 but didn't really like them, not enough footbed but even with those I got the whirly, almost overrotated though because those bindings are lighter. |
