Hey everyone,
Today I went out not knowing what exactly what to do, and tried a ts backroll because I wanted a new invert to try. Basically I went up the wake and threw everything back and i think it screwed up my rotation. Can someone walk me through what i am suppose to be doing on a ts backroll?

Also, raleys. I have landed ONE. I did this one a few days ago, but since then i haven't landed another. I go up and extended in the air, but i have trouble pulling it back in really fast. Whenever i pull it in it seems really slow, when i see others pull it in they go really quick. How do i speed up the pulling in process?

Any tips on either would be nice

Thanks

Well before my run i started out trying raleys on a wakeskate, which really helps. Just cut really hard, poped the board behind me and started at the tip of my tower then pulled it back in.

I think the wakeskate was the key to landing it though. When i was doing it on a skate, it didn't feel like it was going to help, but it really does. You just need to have good form with the skate. It also helps for bringing it back in because you get the feeling of landing it, just without a board.

I think i still might go throw some raleys on a skate again! They are fun to do !

so it doesnt hurt to try a raley on the wakeskate even if you dont land on your feet. Or is it really easy to pull yourself back down.

boarder52002, The only way its not going to hurt is if you land on your feet or if you know you'll bail so you dive head first into the water but If you land on your stomach it hurts and if you get scared and let go of the handle your momentum will carry your feet over your head and it will be like a front flip. My wakeskate raley attempts have not been successful lately.

What is happening on your skate raleys? If they arn't successful

All you need to do is let your feet get thrown out by the wake, then pull as much back in as you can

most of all, don't let go

I got 'em back successful again yesterday. It was cuz I was using the wake to throw my legs up and then using my power so my legs were flying over my head causing me to let go of the rope. Now I just need to dial them on a wakeboard before the end of summer. But those TS backrolls, those are a b*tch. I hadnt even been close on one all summer. Can you do a tantrum cuz I heard if you can dial those a ts backroll should be somewhat simple.

I guess it would help because the backroll ts is more like a tantum rotation with one hand on the handle and all. I guess it really wouldn't help. Just a thought...

Colefooter..The TS BR what are you having trouble with? The pop or the rotation?
The one tip, (I got it from here and I forget who gave the tip, but props to you b/c it helped me tremendously...),

Progressive cut in
Stand tall and at the top of the wake "hump the sky"
Everytime I do my TSBR and think, "hump the sky", I land it. It's all in the hips....
Also, keep both hands on the handle for 3/4 of the rotation....
Good Luck and hump the sky Razz

Laughing Laughing hump the sky?

it's true, just toss your head back and bring your knees TOWARD your chest, not fully up, and spot your landing. it's not a hard trick at all. try the r 2 r by holdiong on with both hands and just see how you do that way

have you tried an elephant yet?

When I was first trying TS rolls I wouldn't ride the wake up, and kinda whipped the rotation, so I slipped out everytime, not sure if this helps w/ what you're doing, but it helped me just to ride up the wake more.

colefooter, most people land the r2r first, cuz they hold on with two hands just a tad too long.... you are right there, keep at it....

Be sure to keep the handle pushed towards your back pocket (of your lead leg of course) throughout the entire rotation, especially after you let go with your back hand and on landing. That was my biggest problem, learning the TS Backroll. I would always start to go to revert because the handle would drift across my belly throughout the rotation. Keep the handle on your back pocket, spot your landing early, and get your weight on your toes for the landing. Oh yeah, don't be afraid to bend your knees on the landing, so many people don't bend their legs when landing TS and just end up slipping out becuase they are stiff-legged.

Keep at it, you'll have it in no time. Good Luck!

When trying raleys on a wakeskate, isnt anyone worried about where the wakeskate will end up? I mean, I want to try one but I don't want to do a bellyflop and land on my board. That's really my only concern... especially with the sharp grip tape. Other than that, it sounds like fun. I just want to keep the skin I have. LoL.

Greg Smith, when i do it i have to swim like 50 yards to get the wakeskate back, dont forget the boat is still pulling you, and the wake will send the wakeskate out behind you, so theres not a whole lot to worry about.

Inverts on the other hand, the skate can end up with you, like wakeguy here tried to do a tantrum off of the crest of the wake (starting from inside going off crest of wake) and he landed on the board, funny to watch. He said it hurt his elbow Shocked
