ok, i can do a HS w2w with out any problems at all

my guess is that your backing off your edge to early. You want to cut all the way up the wake and stand tall. Looking at the horizon helps stay upright. Also on your hs are you using a progressive edge?

ummm yea i use a progressive edge on both my TS and HS

i just cant find my board in a good position on the wake as i am about to get air, ill just fall right down

but other times i get about 1 or 2 feet of air, but my HS gets way more air than 2 feet

Just use a nice progressive edge and stand tall and then i find letting go with my back hand helps to stay balanced.

There should be a w2b and a w2s. That would be wake to back and wake to stomach. Im pretty good at those.

Blindside_137, When cutting in TS you want to pull the handle into your front hip and have your back hand at a 90 degree angle and your wrist again your belly buttons and it will take strain off having the handle into your hip. What alot of people do is put all their weight on their back foot. That will mess your cut and jump up. Keep a good amount of weight on your front foot. When you come in and pop it will feel akward so you just need to keep the handle into your hip.

Hard to tell what you are doing wrong without a pic or vid but some common problems are..

Not keeping both hands on the handle for the entire jump and landing.
not stayn balanced on the board, people lean back like Davo.FSF, said.
crouching over at the waist so you can't load the line properly.
pumping the wake early like a snowboarder i.e flattening out or changing you edge slightly.

I am working on my toeside w2w's as well. Thank for the tips. My biggest problem is fear. Anyone got any tips on overcoming that?

I think just about everyone has the TS mental block going at one point or another, you just have to kinda ball it up and hit it...

My homies have been riding me to land heelside w2w for the past three weeks. I am hoping the time on the trampoline pays off this weekend.

okay there, for TS w2w.. heres how i picked it up..

unless you are already riding really short already, it will pay off to take 5 to ten feet off. I think i learnt at about 60-65 feet. just means you have less distance to jump. (i used TS wakejump as a guide for lengthening the rope.. i wouldnt lengthen until i could go TS w2w consitently)

cut out 10-15 feet from the wake, and drift along until the rope comes tight. Initiate the turn by putting a little more weight on your toes. Start in slowly, and build the edge slowly into the wake. The advantage we have now is that because we are riding shorter, we dont need to carry a lot of speed, some come in quite slowly. When cutting in, remember to keep the handle nice and close to your hips, your knees slightly bent and your chest and head up.

THere is no need to jump or push off the wake, I concentrated on keeping my hips up and forward, and on pushing my chest up into the air. Keep your head up on the air and the handle in close to your hip. I generally found it a bit easier to let go of the handle just before landing, but remember to hold on with two hands for as long as you can.

Landing on the downramp is heaps easier, so try to dial your cut in to do this. Keep your knees soft on landing, head and chest up (but not back) still and continue to ride away on edge. If you let off your edge you will slip out.

Ride away like a champion.

Good instructions, I will try this when I go out. I'm slipping out right now and I am letting go of my back hand almost as soon as I take off because my board wants to do a fs 180 on its own.

south, thanks a million man, but im already back home and wont be going wakeboarding for another week, finally i can get a good 3 or 4 feet of air but my hard part is landing them. what im doing is turning my board about 70 degrees to where the nose is pointing towards the stern of the boat and then ill catch an edge w/ my heelside and do a back plant lol. but next time ill try and keep that same edge itook off with...

simland, are you saying that you put one of ur hands behind your back when on ur TS? would this help me out because all i do is pull as hard as i can on the rope...

and finally, after a good 40 minutes of riding ill get this burning pain in my left shoulder blade, am i doing somthing wrong or is it just muscle pains...

No no no, that would lead me up for a BS 180. I mean when I am holding onto the rope I hold on tight until I leave the wake. Then I let go of my back hand (my right hand because I am left foot forward) to help keep my chest facing away from the boat. I have many bad habits and this is one. This is for a TS w2w.

On a hs just keep both hands on the whole time. Keep you progressive edge going make sure you are at your hardest cut at the peak of the wake and hold your edge through the wake. Keep the rope to the hips and straigten your legs when you are going up the wake. Make sure not to bed your legs at all so you can get all the pop you can. Bring you knees up in the air for stability once you have totally left the wake and absorb the landing.

Forget W2W I was having all kind of trouble with a single wake TS Jump as soon as I landed my back foot would slide out and that would be the end of me. Good new is I am now a professional face surfer....I found when I could finally land them that the position of the handle is the most important thing to remember, instinct will tell you to keep it centered which will put the handle right below your belly button this position when landing will turn you and make it really difficult to hold the line when landing. (I think this is why so many use only the lead hand when Landing) if you make sure the handle is on your front hip and ride out of the landing you should have no problem. I am actually finding how useful the handle is for board control as I am learning to ride switch.

I'm just starting to get my toeside W2W consistent and what helps me is as you leave the wake, keeping your arms straight, pull the handle so it almost touches your front leg. Before as i left the wake I would throw the handle up and go off axis.

Just don't let go when you do the jump, some get scared and let go then just land it... just hold on
