kabucha, hey girl. Im a 21/F too - just started riding this summer. Getting up can be tricky... but staying up can be even trickier! When you are getting up, the best advice i can give you is to let the boat do the work - dont try to stand up right away. Stay in that tucked position until you are sure you are totally out of the water. Once that's been accomplished, stand up fairly slowly, making sure you have equal weight on each foot. (too much wieght on your lead foot = bad! Shocked ) Naturally, you may want to put a little more weight on your back foot once you get up - which shouldn't hurt anything - but try and keep it equal. You'll get the hang of it in no time!! You just have to own it - be confident Wink Before you know it, it will become second nature to you. Cool

Let me know how it goes!! Good luck Wink

First relax, second relax. Then once you are up, lean back a little and try to keep the line taunt. If you are leaning forward you are going to eat it face down a lot more.

Detention and higher education and the vids that may help.

make sure you keep your butt to the board until your out of the water and your arms relaxed!! If you try to stand up too quickly thats how your going to face plant! Believe me i had to tell myself butt to the board for such a long time, but it does become second nature!

Basically what everybody else has been saying, but once you do get up, try putting a little tension on the rope by leaning your upper body back a bit rather than hunching over. It hurts less, and you'll have more stability.

If catching your front edge after you get up is the problem, then you might try putting the rope at your hip (left if your left foot is in front, and right if your right foot is in front). Putting the rope at your hip should automatically turn the board. Thats how I learned.

as the pull builds speed push the board with legs and pull the handle to you stomack. the boat does not pull you up you pull you up. don't fight the board, water or the pull. work with as one grasshopper.
