|
|
I need some help with landing a roll to revert. I have the back roll down, but when I try the roll to revert I over rotate. I land with my feet out in front of me and fall on my arse. People watching say I'm turning loose of the handle with my front hand early and swinging it away from my body in the same direction as the roll. At what point during the trick should I let go with my front hand and where should my front hand/arm be after I turn loose? Someone else in the boat says that I need to stop my back roll rotation and drop straight down to finish the 180. How do I top the rotation and get my chest over my toes. I feel like I'm really close on this trick. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

You need to get your head up after coming around in the rotation to see the shore. This should help stop you a bit from overrotating. You sounds like you may be letting to with your front hand to early and rotating really fast. Just taking it up high and floaty, and don't let go with your front hand until you come out of the flip and see the shore. _________________ Pat McCarthy |

Try some BIG 180s. Not just wake to wake, but land them way out in the flats. It was kind of the same feeling for me as the r2r landing. Make sure you are landing them on your toes, edging away from the wake. Try a few with 2 hands on the handle too, but keep it nice and close to the front of your hip.
good luck,

sounds to me that you're underrottating. If you land on your ass (facing the boat) that means you are not land on your toes, you are landing on your heels and sliding out. Try really punching the handle to your rear hip after you take off, this should get you over the board a little more. _________________ UCSB Waterski Team |

is it easier to do a roll to revert if you let the board float out behind a bit more off the wake? on my backroll i let the board drift back just a little off the top of the wake.

yes and no... I would say that if you let it out a little bit more the rotation comes more naturally, however you can kill your pop if you try this. Also you can easily learn the r2r without letting it drift back. _________________ UCSB Waterski Team |

thanks, the reason i had this idea is because when i want to go bigger on my backroll i usually try to let it out there farther. I've taken a couple nasty r2r falls where i threw the trick like a normal backroll and clipped the other wake on the way down... wasnt the best feeling ever

i've done the same thing. You have to really concentrate on waiting to pop on the R2R, even more than the normal backroll. _________________ UCSB Waterski Team |

grab it melan for a try and it'll open up yer rotation.. making it slower.. will get yer weight over your toes some and make the 180 easier.. Also I was told when I was trying them was to throw the 180 as soon as you were in the air.. Kevin Henshaw told me this so I figure he knows what he tlaking about.. If yer into riding you'd know who he is. _________________ I wakebaord, wakeskate,do anythign stupid, hurt others and have fun doign it. |

im quite odd but i throw my backrolls bout 5-10 feet into the flats, it feels so good so my r2r's which i havnt tried any lately are easy to come down toeside but my riding off switch is where i get in trouble, just do a bunch of big and slow and fast and small, anykind of Hs 180's to just get a feel for where you are and to get better at riding off, just my $.02 _________________ Broke, Unsponsored, Carless, Broken donor cycle, 18 credit hours... and i drive to class wheeliein my sisters 49cc scooter... yea im bawlin |
