Brad, Here are a couple of pics that I got from a video capture. not the best quality pics. I have a full sac in the center ski locker, and a couple of hundred pounds up front. 21 mph at 65 ft with 4 people in the boat. I usually have another 200#s that I fill up, but didn't bother that day.

Here are a couple. This is with no added weight and just 3 people in the boat. The trim is an 1/8 of the way up from all the way down. It seems to help if I get two people in the back of the boat with one on each side as well.

ahh, a couple of Coloradan's...
Here's my photo. No ballast and 17mph.
Was going slow because She's a beginner.
Also the water was garbage. This is at Cherry Creek on Friday night.
I'll post more tomorrow after my "after work trip'

Breck-Nautique:
You are correct. That is Boulder Res and I tend to ride there during the week after work. There is usually only like 4 to 5 boats out there so it is always pretty nice. If you wait until after 7 then you can even get some glass.
T&T:
How do you like Cherry Creek? I have been to Chatfield and it was way too crowded to ever go back. Where do you ride mostly in the Denver area?

Ride in WY. Hidden secret, just don't tell the jet-skiers.
Cherry Creek can be much nicer than "Chopfield", but it depends on when you go.

yea, just the 375# sack in the locker on the later photos of me and my buddies GF. The earlier photo with my GF I did not have ballast filled.
I currently have more sacks, another 550#'s on it's way. With more weight and running at 19-20mph, 5' less rope, the wake is quite bit larger, but I thought I would show you what I currently have for weight and the speed I like running at (22mph).

Really? Are you comparing an I/O to an inboard? If you ask the inboard guys, all I/O's suck... Hmmm. Owned an Inboard Ski boat.. It's BS!
Sorry for the sarcasm. Just hate to hear people group all I/O's and put down the I/O (in general) when they don't know what they are talking about.
Side note: Did any of you know that one of the best barefoot boats is an outboard?

Here's a pic from a few years ago when I had a 19ft I/O (Stingray 190LX)
Riding at ~22mph w/fat sac in rear.
We also ended up adding 700lbs to the front which made it a lot nicer (sorry, no pics...)

When I was out yesterday I was trying out different weight config, adjusting the trim and speed.. I forgot my camera but will take a few shots next week..
17Ft Maxum
300# front/mid
200# rear
19-21mph
trim 20%
only had myself and one buddy in boat and wake was looking decent
going to add more weight next week and take some pics

I think my buddies Canoe makes a bigger wake then some of those pics. Just playin. Cool to see others wakes. My suggestion is V-drive.

| PortlandBrder, first of all if you don't have any pics or any advice/knowledge of I/O wakes then you have no business posting on this thread. Secondly those of us who have I/Os either use them for other perposes or we can't afford a v-drive yet so your comments provided nothing for this thread.

| some of those wakes dont look half bad...i have an I/O and the wake is just tiny and way way wider compared to some of those pics...i usualy dont weight it at all (it makes the wake bigger, but the shape of the wake is just horrid when i add about 600lbs) anybody have any suggestions?

Where are you adding the weight? With I/Os you want to have more weight in front. Also it helps to trim up about 1/4 of the way up.
Also how fast are you going? Speed affects the width of the wake a lot.

| we added about 600lbs to the back and about 150 to the front, we always trim it up about 1/4 and we go about 19-21mph

| What are you using to weight it? If possible try putting 500lbs in front and the other 250lbs in back. Also if you are comfortable enough increase the speed by 3 or 4 mph. If that seems to fast then you could slow back down to your normal speed, and shorten your rope so you will hit the wake at a narrower spot.

| i was using cinder blocks to add weight and the only problem w/ that is that we have to unload them everytime before we lift up the boat on the lift...which is why some fatsacs would be nice but every penny i spend on something else is less money in my "buy and awsome boat fund"

yea I don't blame you. I used to be the same way but I started to get bored doing the same stuff all the time and wanted to progress more. All I could do before I started adding stuff to mine was grabs and spins. I just figured that I would rather be getting better all the time and push back getting a better boat, than get one sooner and not get much better while waiting.
Also you might want to think about using sandbags rather than cinder blocks, since since the cinder blacks might tear up something if they slide around a little.

quick suggestion for wake size - get a hydrofoil. I took mine off this weekend to see what it would do. The wake was tough to keep consistent, the ride was rough because the bow kept bobbing, and wake was washy. This was with any speed, any trim setting above 1/4.
With a hydrofoil, I can add anything from 1/4 trim to 3/4 trim (the only difference in trim setting is the wake gets bigger as you increase the trim), the speed becomes more consistant with more trim, and it removes wake wash. Any more than 3/4 and I too will get bow-bob. It also seemed to run much better with weight. having a hydrofoil makes adjusting wake very easy, boat control very easy, and the only downfall I could find was that the top speed reduced from 37mph to 36mph (big friggin deal)!!!.
Oh, and it helps the boat plane out much easier.

a hydrofoil is a horrizontal fin that bolts to the outdrive. You can go to www.overtons.com and type in "Hydrofoil" and you will have several options. The 2 piece fins aren't as good IMO. If you order by this Saturday they will give a 10% discount (coupon).
