|
|
Hi,
I searched for this question here but couldn't come up with anything, so if it was discussed before, just let me know.
I'm fairly new to wakeboarding and I don't own a board yet. As I'm looking around for one I notice that there are many different shapes of boards, specifically the ends of the boards. Do these different shapes actually make for different rides or are they just for design purposes??
I'll try and post a pick of what I mean. |

| a rounded tip is usually better for starting out, a little less aggressive, and not as easy to catch, therefore minimizing face plants. |

| Yes the tips do make a difference. Usually if you go to the website selling the board they have a little detail on how the end of the board helps the performance |

| Also, the more surface area on the tip, the higher the board will sit in the water and a bigger fin may be required. |

id say if you are a beginner, go for a rounded tip. im riding a LF rhythm, its got a real rounded tip and and i love the floaty and mellow feel. _________________

| Awesome Thanks for your replies everyone. I'll have to go check out some of the websites then, see if I can find one suited for me. |

| There are some boards around (Byerly I think) that have cut outs on the sides of the tips of the boards. I've heard that the rope can catch these while the board is in the rack on the tower and actually break the board tip off. I would stay away from these. |

| Don't stay away from the Byerly because of that reason, it is a killer board. i would stay away from it, because it's an aggressive board. not overly suited for beginners. it's pretty easy to fix that problem with the byerly (if you have that problem), just fashion some sort of bag, over the tip, so the rop won't catch, or don't put that specific board in the rack, should be good. |
