| Is there anyway I can increase the size of my wake with out buying a fatsack? Also is it better to have the trim of your boat up or down for or does it even matter for wake size? thanks |

As far as increasing your wake goes, any type of weight will do. For example, some people just bring a bunch of people on there boat (10+) to get some weight which will result in a bigger wake. Also, you can use other forms of weight such as lead, sand, or anything else you can think of. You dont necessarily have to spend a bunch of money on some fat sacs. Remember though, anybody can progress and get better, you dont really need to have a huge wake - it does help though

yeah we fill up my ballast before we go. I also have one fat sac up front. It's a noticable difference. _________________ Crownsville Wakeboard Team |

put your trim Up...
this will bring the back deeper in the water (right huh?)
it helps to get a cleaner wake, helps a bit to make it bigger, but not that much...
I alsways take some extra people with me (friends enough who wants to boat) _________________ * riding finless teaches you to get your edge down properly, when you do it with fins, you'll be able to cut like OJ Simpson

if you have an outboard motor-pull your motor up...If you have an I/O, inboard, or trim tabs, tilt up...tilting up = wake going up. _________________ Crownsville Wakeboard Team |

If you are looking for weight that you can leave in the boat and is cheap on the pocket, go to your local skeet range. You can buy lead buckshot for cheap. Then just double/triple sack a few bags and lay them in out of the way places on your boat. They form to your boat for a nice snug fit. Its a good choice for adding a few hundred pounds here and there. _________________ -----------------------------------

yeah...i have a jetboat which equals NO TRIM but i just put big people in the back and the girls up front...it helps a lot... usually where people sit can help a lot on a 19ft -22ft boat.... _________________ Jump big, land hard, the summer is only so long. |

If you dont wanna spend alot of money you can do what I did. Me and my buddy found a "Ski rocket" (its kinda like that thing they ride at the beach in JAWS, just a little shorter:) We lay it right down the center of the boat towards the front and fill it with water before we go out. Its a short ride to the ramp so towing isn't a problem, and when we pull the boat out we just drain it into the floor and pull the plug. It holds around 60 gallons of water so (8lbs per gallon=480lbs)
We also tried the lead weights and they also work great until you pick up 4 girls and the boat only goes 10mph And its not like you can dump 500lbs of lead in the water and feel good about it.
We've only got a 130HP I/O so we have to be able to adjust weight on the go so water is the way to go in my opinion.......bilge pumps rule
Hope this helps.... |

| Adjusting the trim definitly made a differnce with our boat. The wake got bigger, but it cause the boat to slow down and the wake to fold over. In turn we had to speed up the boat a lot more than normal to make the wake decent. Today we went to the lake with three more people than usuall, and it definitly made a differnce. I suggest fat sacs. They can be filled if u have few people in the boat, or drained if you have some guest, which make up for the weight. I plan to get a few in the weeks to come. |

IS it better to put the weight in the front back or distributed? It does some weird things to thewake. I've also noticed that the side of the boat (now talking left right/ port starboard) with the msot weight will have a smaller rounder wake. The opposite side wake will have a nicer lip. _________________ Wakeboard/Waterski/Kneeboard/Ride Random Objects

I'm not syaing your wrong becasue I'm sure you know a lot more then I do. But wouldn't it make more sense to put the sac right at the back for maximum weight at the back, pushing the boat lower there for making the wake bigger? |

| ya if your cheap, you can always just fill some coolers with some water and place them around the boat, the dont have a good size to weight ratio but they work. |

Matthew, a fat sac in the back is often what people start with. i started with two side sacs. and my wake got a lot bigger and steeper but wasnt that firma and was a little too steep. so i threw as much lead in the front as i could to cause the wake to be firmer and make it a little less steep and a little better transition. then i just threw some lead in the back because i put a little too much weight in the front and now ive got a good wake for a ski boat thats made to have a flat wake. i dont know how much weight i have exactly but its around 400- 500 in the front and aronund 800+ in the back which is close to a 40 60 ratio but it works damn good in my boat.
hers a pic to show yo what that weight can do |
