A friend of mine was killed ina drunk driving accident lastnight and another left in critical condition. A night of fun turned out to be not so fun to say the least. It really hit home and I just wanted to remind everyone how precious life is and to really cherish it while it's here. Obviously they thought they were immortal as many of us do at times and it's so sad that one bad decision is so life altering, unfortunatly humans have to die in order for others to learn. Just something to think about.

bethany ~ last year, i had kind of the same thing, except it was one of my relatives. i realize how hard it is for you, and trust me, i hated going through it too. i have learned from other people's mistakes and tho i love to go out, and have fun, i will never drink and drive just because of what happened to my family and what a horrible loss it was.

sorry to hear about your loss... i hope things get better... Crying or Very sad

Bethany, my sincere sympathies on your loss. And thank you for an important dose of reality. Many times we think that we are invulnerable and immune...that it can't happen to me. Well guess what, it can.

I know what you mean. There have been many timese that I have left downtown with my friends and I know that someone else should be driving. It seems as if everyone thinks they are "OK" to drive. Even though if they get pulled over they will get a DWI.... seems that most people are only thinking of themselves about driving drunk. Not the other people that it could affect. I know that I have thought more about making sure that at least one person in the group does not have anything to drink instead of just slowing down some time in the night.

Thats one of the bad things about drinking...you feel like nothing can go wrong. When i drink all i can think about is how good it feels to drive. Thats why i ALWAYS give my keys to someone that isnt drinking becouse i know i'll end up behind the wheel. Rolling Eyes I havent driven drunk in YEARS and i wont ever again! Driving drunk isnt just putting yourself at risk its others too. I think i watch too much of the discovery health channel. that trauma life in the ER show is always having a family come into the er becouse of a drunk driver! I'm sure it isnt jsut that er, its others too. its all very sad and unfortunate (sp?).

I'm sorry to hear about your loss Bethany!

Excellent post, Bethany! Very, very sorry for your loss. A good part of my family drinks and drives and it pisses me off to no end! I worry about them all the time and everyone else on the road they are endangering. People have to make the decision to put the keys down before they pick up a drink. Again, so sorry.

Sorry to hear this beth I know how you feel its going to be really hard for a while my friend mikey died last year in a car crash with his brother school has never been so quiet and kids have never been so safe...he wasnt wearing his seat belt and if he would have been he would still be here today we wouldnt have had to go through the wake and funeral and everytime the 29th comes around its another month without mikey the hardest thing was that his brother was charged by the state for some kind of murder charges which i think is totally wrong and his poor mother just lost her husband of cancer its just horrible It taught us all to be responisble and I dont know anyone from this town that gets in a car and dosnt wear a seatbelt anymore....

For what it's worth from a 16 year old kid 1000 miles away, I'm sorry too.

And drunk drivers are dumb.
