|
|
Does anyone know if the X-9 has the same hull as the X2 just the differnce being that one is a V-Drive and one is a DD? I am looking at a 2001 X-star and a 2003 X-9 and i want to know if properly weighted the X-9's Wake could be as big as the X2 or old X-Star. If anyone could help me out on this that would be great. _________________ Go Big or Go home

A more appropriate title would be "Does the X-9 have the same hull as X2?"
I don't know the answer to that question, but I wouldn't have had to click on it with that title |

I'm fairly sur eits totally different.
X2 is far deeper... X9 is all shallow and apparently its a pain in the ass to get the wakes equal. _________________ www.AxisBoats.co.uk | www.Malibu-Boats.co.uk |

Nope, totally different. The x-9 is designed to give you a slalom wake, but you through the weight to it and you get a decent wakeboard wake. The x-2 was designed to produce a hard, well shaped wake with or without ballast.
I haven't heard of a problem with making the wakes equal. Just move the weight around. |

| The hulls and wakes on these two boats are totally different. The X-9 has a lot wider beam and in turn, makes the wake a lot wider. The X-9 is more of an all-around boat, where the x-star is made specifically for wakeboarding. If you are going to use the boat for wakeboarding, I would recommend getting the x-star. |

| The X9/ProStar 209 was a new hull design first released in 2001 (a wide-beam DD ski boat) I know, I bought one. If I'm not mistaken, the pre-2003 X-Stars/2003+ X2's are based on ProStar 205 hull. |

It seems that basically the only differnce is about 6 inches in the beam. according to MC website. One has a depth of 23 inches the other has a depth of 23.5 inches. the X2 weighs about 200 pounds more. and is about 5 inches differnt in length. I won't end up with an X-9 because they are really hard to come by it seems in the used market. I just like the seating in a DD and have grown up on a DD don't know if i wanna cram myself into a VDrive but all that should really matter is the wake.... _________________ Go Big or Go home |

| The x-star(x-2) hull is the same exact hull as the Prostar 205's that were made in 1997 or newer. Like mc driver said above, the x-9 hull is the same exaxt hull as the Prostar 209 which was a new hull in 2001. Believe me, those few inches difference in the hulls will make a huge difference on the wake. |

The X9/209 hull is most closley related to the X10/210 in terms of design and execution. _________________ Dedicated to making life miserable for the huddled masses that are wasting my oxygen |

| ...but the X10/210, as well as the X30/230 are more the "deep" v-hull types. Although the X9 has a wider beam, it does maintain a sleek, low profile, whereas to me, the X10 and X30 do not. |

I am only repeating what Mark MacLemore (head engineer @ MC) said when asked about the 209/X9 and the 210/X10. If you take away the deadrise of the 210/X10 the similarities between the two become very apparent. _________________ Dedicated to making life miserable for the huddled masses that are wasting my oxygen |

| I ride behind both an x-9 and x-10 alot and both wakes are very very similar. . . wide and rampy. This is without any extra ballast though. To get big wakes out of these two boats, you have to add a ton of weight because there is more boat surface to sink. |
