Whoa, thanks guys for the warm welcome i thought i was gonna get a newb attack.
Yeah that camera is so awesome, my buddy just likes taking pics, he doesn't really ride but he just comes out on the boat and chills, we got like 300 more pics from wed and gonna grab some more tomorrow finally the water temp is hitting the 60 degree mark.
Its not to bad in board shorts ive done it in like 48-50 degree water, its all about that initial shock, and when i fall and my face goes under the water i freak...
drifter... 40 degrees? Now thats insane, 48-50 degrees after about 4-5 minutes im going numb and can barely hold on to the handle.
I am looking forward to a good year of riding this year, can't wait for it to warm up a bit, for me its hard to try new tricks when its cold, i don't like to fall in this cold water.
So heres the specs on the camera:
Canon EOS-1D (Digital Camera)
Multiple 512 mb cards
8.2 Mega Pixel
8.5 Frames Per Second
got a bunch of EF lenses 35 - 70mm, 70 - 200mm and a 2x bevler (sp?) |

When I saw the landscape detail in that 2nd shot I was thinking these weren't out of any P&S cam! A 1D MKII with a 70-200 f2.8 L is about as good as it gets for shooting wakeboarding. Nothing like a 512 mb CF at 8 fps shooting RAW - oops time to change cards again
4 gb Hitachi Microdrives off Ebay for $275, that's the way to go for that camera. _________________ Rich Dykmans |

So its not the Mark II its the standard one just found out today. Yeah i need to check out those microdrives cause a 512 mb card fills up quick, this morning we went out and used 3 of those cards in a little over an hour.
- Justin
P.S. downloading the pics from this morning now will put a couple up, not as great cause my buddy forget the lenses!! |

I've got the original 1D myself so I guess I should have recognized the look.
Russian: The new Hitachi 4 gig Microdrives are supposed to be a lot faster and more shockproof but you're right, they are not going to take the abuse a CF card will. On the other hand a good 1 gig CF card is still $200+ so for $250 you're getting the equivalent of $800 worth of CF cards (so it may be worth the gamble.) However the 4 gig microdrives don't work properly in the original 1D which is why I'm still getting 1 gig CF cards. Hitachi has a 2 gig microdrive just coming out that I may try. _________________ Rich Dykmans |
