Hmm what do all you guys think about girls who skate?? Im like the only girl besides one other that rides in our town( tho the other girl basically doesn't ride anymore) ...and the boys seem to find it amusing when im out there skating with them. I dont suck or anything. I can ollie like 4 stairs *on a good day* and i grind a hell of a lot of rails just like them, though they ALWAYS find something to make fun of me about...so i was wondering what all you guys thought about sk8er chicks...

I don't care if a girl is skating at the park, it rarely happens though. One thing that does annoy me though is when girls say they can't do a trick just because there a girl.

Ive never heard that one...lol thats pretty LAME if i cant do a trick its bc i cant do it so i practice until i do get it.. excuses are for wussys haha

Yeah, its not commonly used but only occasionally.They should just say they can't do it because they dont want to or havn't got the skill to do it yet.

I can guarantee you that the male gender as a whole does not mind girl skaters. If you're a guy then you know you love it when chicks watch you skate, whether or not they're skaters. You see a cute girl scopin' you you're gonna try something big to impress her.

The guys who make fun of you are making fun of everybody else who doesn't wear tight black jeans & tight black t-shirts. It's the "punk" thing to do these days.

Chicks who can rip is what skateboarding needs.except ones that are all prissy. take for example Mellisa marquadt in wakeboarding she hits some sliders that other girls wouldnt think about doin. shes out there rippin. so yea i think chicks that rip are awesome

When I started skating there were no girls skating at all, I was the only one and even back then there was never much hostility, the guys just treated me like any other guy. I was expected to be as aggressive as they were during pool sessions, because if I wasn't I wouldn't get my turn to skate.

Now like 10 years later, I find that I still get a ton of respect from older guys, its the younger ones that kinda try to brush me off. Why? I'm not too sure. I don't really care anyways.

The one thing that does bother me is how the girls that I do see skating in my area ONLY skate with other girls, its like they don't want to associate with other skaters. If they think that they are doing themselves any favors by segregating themselves, they are mistaken. Guys push you to skate harder, they'd learn way more if they'd just make more of an effort to skate with the guys.

Zara, I feel ya, I am ALWAYS with guys wakeboarding and thank god, cuz most girls I have ridden with certainly would not push me or help me learn more..they won't even go outside the wake..thats no fun! Guys push you to do everything harder, with girls it always seems like its a 'competition' and again..thats no fun. it would be nice to find girls who do it cuz tTHEY want to (not just cuz their man does it) and push themselves to that next level.
