|
|
I've seen a couple pictures of trucks with a mudflap that basically covers the entire back of the truck to protect the boat when towing. Can anyone give a recommendation on where to buy one of these for an F-250? We have a long trip planned end of this month and I'd like to protect the boat if possible.

You could make one for about $50.
I used the 2 pieces of angle bracket that comes in about 4ft strips with slots and holes thru it (Home Depot or Lowes), adjusted to length, and bolted them together. Then I got 4 mud flaps from an autoparts store. Cut to correct length (if needed), drilled out holes, and used washers, bolts and nuts (3 each flap) to mount to the angle bracket. Then I used 2 threaded J hooks (bolted thru the angle bracket) found mounting points on the underside of my vehicle frame, hook it up, tighten it up and I'm on my way. It may not be the best looking, but it gets the job done and was pretty quick, easy, and cheap.
Ohh...don't forget about the chrome mud flap chicks!
The picture I attached is poor, but maybe if you look real hard...

I did what P hat in Cincy did....
I have a F250 SD with custom made flaps because of the size of the lift. Is your truck stock height? I will try and snap a few photos for you tonight when I get home from work to give you an idea if you wish to do it yourself.
I actually had mine welded to the the Hidden hitch with a bolt to either run with them on or off.

ssrgeoff, Thanks man. The truck is stock suspension with BFG tires. But it is the 4x4 F-250 SD. Pictures would be awesome. I think home made is the way to go.

Make sure that you don't make the flaps so long that you can back over them in reverse....your mud flaps might not make it out of the driveway....

ok, ssrgeoff, why no liscense plate in southern california?
i have big problems with my f-350. the thing has such deep tread that it picks up every little rock, and you dont want that hitting a black hulled boat...i need to get some of those.

Toll Roads.... j/k
You know I still have the window sticker in front when I bought the car. Same with my wifes car. I guess I am just lazy when it comes to that.
I am running plates now because I got pulled over on my way back from the Bay and CHP pulled me over and wrote me up for quite a few infractions. No plates being one of them.
