I just bought a new board and bindings and i wanted to know if i should do anything to break them in? or can i just take it out of the box and ride it. Speaking of this, is the position of the bindings just preference?

to break in the bindings u can fill the bath tub with warm water and put the bidnings on, that will loosen them and make them form to your foot
some peopme may say put bottles and that will stretch them but not to the form of your foot

To determine your binding postion:
Stand on a chair and jump off with you feet about shoulder width apart.
Look at the position of your feet.
Duplicate on board.
Tweak board position over the next season to be comfortable. Everyone is different. Just because pro somebody rides a certain way does not mean that is right for you.

word of advice to anyone with new bindings do not walk around in them for a long period of time. I ripped the bottom pad on the front of my foot bed by walking around in my house. Sit in the tub with them on and wiggle your feet, it works well.

What you probably found out is that you are flexible. Duck out your feet about 15 degrees or so and put the binding on the board about shoulder witdth apart. This may not be at the widest hole on the board. This will get you started.

After riding a few times, move the bindings to where they are most comfortable.

Doesn't that throw you off balance when you ride switch? I've always set my left and right in the same position so I'm not sure one notch would make any difference. I try not to think of my board as having a front and a back.

put your binding lube bottles in for the winter and wear them in the bath a couple of times to break em in! you just got to ride different angle setting and see which you find most comfortable, it could take a while to sort though.
