Pylon vs. Tower

I have a Pylon pole right now that works fine. But I was wondering if a tower was worth getting. Does it enhance your riding or anything of the sort that a pylon cant. Your input would be appreciated.

the tower is supposed to be more balanced on your boat........when you cut out on the wake does your boat rock? Because i heard the pylon sways side to side. I have a tower and you can barely feel anything.

Kid, acctually if the tow points in the same position, both should be the same physicaly, trust me there was a large discussion about this a few months ago...

the only reason to go from a pylon to a tower is really space. if you dont like how much space its taking up to the extent that it would be worth buying a tower. will it improve your rideing any more than a pylon? no.

the other real reason to get a tower rather than a pylon is because it looks way cool( the tower does) and the chicks dig them Laughing

I've been looking for a Pylon or a tower
I choosed the pylon as the tower is too expensive...
The only disadvantage I see is the space you loose in the boat...
Nothing I can't live with so it will be a pylon next month!

Hey WakeBoarder44,

You can check my profile/gallery for pics of my pylon and search for my "how to" here in the "boats and access." section. It cost $80 US and I loose no seating and drill no holes. The only real downside to a pylon is board racks, I understand the pylon mounted ones don't work too well..

Only cost me $40 for my pylon. I used a 7 ft 2 inch steel pipe with an 1/8 in. wall. Works sweet. Also used plastic coated steel cable...I'll post pics sometime.

How tall is your pylon?

I don't need board racks anyway, as I'm the only one with a board for the moment...
I tried to learn some friends, but don't wanna let them use my stuff a whole year!

I built my own...after working around boats and rigging countless sailboats, I feel very comfortable making up wire rope fittings, so for me it wasn't a big deal....I think in the overall scheme of things, if I had a boat that was newer I'd go for the tower, my boat just really isn't worth putting much money in..it runs great and looks great for a 14 year old boat but it is a 14 year old boat.... I'll probalby sell it for 3 or 4 grand and upgrade. For someone looking for an entry level boat to get out and have some fun, my boat's great!

a pylon does same as tower except a tower is out of the way and a pylon is in the middle of your boat

Well, i use to ride a pylon and a tower does help some. If you dont take boarding all that serious then stay with the pylon, but if you want to enhance your performance yes a tower is worth buying.

yea i got a extended pylon and i love it it space really doesn't bother me because im used to a shorter pylon sticking up right in front of the egine get the pylon
