|
|
Hey I can only imagine how many of these u guys get in this forum but i need some advice on buying a new board. This is my first board and im not to good at wakeboarding. I can get up and ride the wake and what not, but I want the board to be with me all the way up to being a good rider. Does this look like a good board for me ?? I will be buying the 04 motive 128 in a package with 04 split bindings. I am about 5'6 and only weigh 105 or so. Any help and advice would be great!

great board the old belmont is but if your still growing which i think you might be cause your 15 i might go a little bit bigger to the 134. your already large enough to ride it and will be able to ride it for a long time my .02

You'd also be okay with a 134. A bigger board is often more stable and gets more pop. _________________ Pat McCarthy |

I have a 134 and I weigh 150. It should still work.
You'l probaly grow out of the board before the board will outgrow your skills
hopefully I said that right. _________________ SaNgEr bOaTs

Its a great board to learn on and progress. I would suggest the 134 also. It will be more stable for you and will let you grow into it more. With you being 5'6 thats a good size for your height. 6cm is a big difference and its better to be toward the lower end of the weight range than the upper end.
I have an old fluid that I learned on. I use it now for sliders and other things I don't want to mess up my new board with. I wake ride it every once in a while and still have fun with it. In a couple years when you're starting to progress just get some smaller fins like .8's on there and that will allow you to progress without having to get a new board. The board seems like a good choice. 128 is tiny though. Thats like kids sized. |

Go with the 134. You won't grow out of this board anytime soon and when you start throwing down some inverts will have more board to land on. I used to ride the belmont and it was an awesome board. The motive is the belmont with a different name. |

HyperLite_GTX, everyone is telling you to go with the 134 but obliously your not gonna listen to any of us... so i have one question, Why did you make this thread if you are not gonna listen to what anyone tells you? IMHO you should go with the 134... |

HyperLite_GTX, i say go w/ the 134 also. I'm only 5'3 clockin in at a little more than 100 lbs ridin a 133 and it works fine for me. Plus you won't grow out of it like eveyone else is sayin. I have the Hyperlite Juvi, I think it's a step down from the Motive (can't go much lower except for the POS obriens w/ sandle bindings.) But i like my board. _________________

Ok so it seems like all of you say go bigger. after lookin around im startin to like the look of the Premier biolite 130. What do you think of this board still to small? dont forget im only like 105 lbs. And does the board ride good? any help would be great.

dont just go by the looks because they are totally different boards and still i would go larger because in a year or two you will grow out of this and want a new one
bigger boards are easier to ride
smaller boards are harder to ride

I don't know about teh 2 different models you mentionned, btu I can say you should go with a 134 at least too. I started wakeboarding 2 years ago with a jobe 138 and I was around 110-120lbs @ 5'4'' or so... Now I'm 5'7 and 135lbs and I can still ride the board, even tough I'm looking to change it because I think it tracks too much, the size is still perfect for me.
And my sister that is like 5'3'' and something la 100lbs when wet rides this board too... Don't be worried too much to go too big, I think a 134 would not be too big for you.
EDIT
I forgot to mention that if you wakeboard just 2-3 times a week, you're going to get bigger WAY fast. Wakeboarding builds your muscle a lot. I actually gain around 5-10lbs of muscle each wakeboarding season, and I do what I can during my (long) off-season to keep it. Hope to make as much this year!
I'm sure you'll be around 115lbs after youre first year of riding, and that's if you don't grow up too much! _________________ Now even tough I know there's NO one in here that lives anywhere near Montréal, if you ever feel like riding, just pm/e-mail/msn/whatever else me |

Thanks a lot guys i realy appreciate all of your help. I found a 134 that i think i like. ive never riddin a cwb befor so i dont know if there good boards. Its a CWB Absolute 134. And it looks pretty damn cool too. WakeBoardingManiac, you mentioned if i ride a lot and yes i will. I started a few days ago and ive been ridin every day since friday (I live on the water) and I can almost to a 180 over the wake. I have snowboarded in the past so maybe thats why but I was pretty good starting out at that too. I guess im just a natural . But what do you think about this boar? sorry for askin about a different one every day
