Wut is the point of a long...thin...skinny fin. as opposed to a deep thick fin?

It channels water better.

ie. Imagine taking it to the extreme, one fin that is 2" long on the board and sticks out like 12". then, take one that is about 1.5" off the board, but is connected to it for about 12".

The latter will channel water on the surface of the board much better. Plus, it is better for rails, sliders, and kicker.....if you choose to hit one with your removable fins in.
