|
|
I'm new to wakeboarding, I have a cheap hyperlite that i got from Sam's Club, I was a little short on cash after i bought my Malibu sunsetter. But now it's time to get a board for myself, and I honestly don't know where to start. I've read a couple of threads and realize i'm going to have to demo boards and figure out what i like, however, I curious as to what size board i should be looking for based on my height and weight, I'm not a little boy. I'm 6'2" and weigh about 280. I pick things up fairly quickly so I don't want a beginner board, I want to get a board that i'm going to be happy with for quite awhile, ie when i get good. If you have any questions for me, feel free to ask, i will answer them as best as possible. Thanks for your help in advance, peace |

I definatly wouldn't go smaller then a 140. The bigger the board is, the more stable it is, but its also harder to spin. Like you said, i'd definatly demo boards, look at all brands, Hyperlite, CWB, Liquid Force, Double Up, ect., dont just buy a board for the name. The people at your local proshop should be able to help you better, but don't follow what they say blindly. Make sure you've done your research. |

The 140 Motive is sweet. I just got it! Its a good all around board from what I hear and you can get a package around $400. _________________ I LOVE TO GET HIGH! off the water. |

Hey bigsteve1037,
Get hooked up with a local shop, find out about their demo programs - Glass and Powder up in Richmond are great guys but you may be able to find something right there...

Most local boat shops will let you demo boards for a small price and some will even credit that price towards the board if you decide to buy it. But demoing was the best thing I did before i bought my board because i thought i liked one board but turned out I hated the way it handled on the water.

bigsteve1037, I just wanted to stress the importance of looking at all companies and not just one. Try them all out because they all have something different.
If you're looking for a board that isn't a beginner board, check out the company websites, they usually label what boards are considered for beginners and others that are for advanced. |

A larger board would be a must but make sure you look at other companies. I've been riding only Hyperlite but that is a large point because there isn't many places to buy other boards around my lake. Some other board companies have some nice stuff out there so keep your eyes open........... |
