I was wondering what the "right" way to have the bindings is. I know on a snowboard you want your front toe more pointed down hill and back more straight ahead. is it same on wake board or do you want your back toe pointed out as well? also, how far apart? thanks! |

It really depends on how you are comfortable...Many riders duck both the back foot and the front foot out. This helps if you ride switch often...I would start with the bindings in a neutral stance and gradually duck them out to where you feel comfortable, but again it all depends on your preference. _________________ midwestride.com -the Midwest Rider Movement-

HEYHyPeRlItEcHrIs,
I started with the front binding ducked out fairly much and the rear one straight across - this was the stance I was used to for skateboarding and it got me up and carving...I have since modified it so I can ride switch, but in the beginnings, I just wanted to get the feeling of getting up and riding...
I set my snowboard up the same way...
As others have said, ultimately it is rider preference - there is no "right way" to set your board up...
Hope this helps

Thats how I based my stance, I stood on a skateboard and looked at my stance when I ollie and when I'm just riding it.
I liked the front out a little and the back ducked in. |

Put your stance all the way out, lower to the board better for spins _________________ I Love The Smell of Butta In The Morning |

Here is what I do for a beginner:
Have them stand on a chair.
Have the jump off and land with their feet about shoulder width apart.
Duplicate on the board.
Have them adjust after a dozen or so rides.
Some people's biomechanics have their feet pointing in various directions. This gets them roughly comfortable right away. I usually have people riding switch their second run, so the skateboard stance would be really temporary, anyway. _________________ Original Boarder from 1983

Why is a stance all the way out on the board better for spins? When i think about it im thinking that is moving more weight out thus slowing the spinning momentum.. right? Tell me how im thinking about it wrong. _________________ Hitting the backrolls this year.. |

Having your feet set as closest to the tips is not going to make you spin faster. In fact, it's just the opposite. But, you'd technically have a better center of balance b/c the weight is spread out. Imagine standing w/ both feet together....then with them farther than shoulder width. Then have someone push you from every angle, which way are you more stable.
The above doesn't mean put your feet all the way out, just where you are more stable.
boarditup, pretty much hit it on the nose. That is a good way to set yourself up to at least start. For all of you who have your feet (or the back at least) ducked in, good luck riding switch. _________________

I like to keep mine all the way out with the same angle (about 40 degree's ducked out) on both feet. I think if your gonna ride regular and switch you want everything to be a mirror image. IMO _________________ ......and one time at wakeboard camp. Come on people say something original. |

40 degrees is hard core man but the only stylish way to do it is all the way out

Maybe its more like a 30 degree angle, I'm not sure but they are comfortable. I never was good at angles and s!@t. Looking at them the left foot is at 10 o'clock and the right is at 2 o'clock... does that make sense? _________________ ......and one time at wakeboard camp. Come on people say something original. |
