board help

I started wakeboarding 2 sumers ago first summer only got to ride like 4 times and last summer about 7 or 8 so im pretty much a beginer. I got a board from a marine shop so its a piece of stuff, its called an airprofile backdraft or somthing, and came with sandle bindings. I bought the hylperlite Splits at the end of last season (finally a pair of bindings that my feet don't slide around in) and still have the old board, i was curious should i just keep the piece board and get a bit better or does having a better board help progression alot? I'd like to get a better board but i don't no that i really need it yet.

a crappy board may teach how to edge, because its prolly got horible fins and just doesnt track right, but if your trying to do tricks and stuff a new board wouldnt hurt you, just remember dont buy a begginer board because you will grow out of it fast and then want a new board. hope i helped

I wouldn't get rid of it. If its a piece of crap then no one will buy it and you can always use it as a slider board when the time comes that you get into that. Or save it and use it to make a bench with another crappy board. Either way I'd never get rid of an old board. Unless I can't ride it and no one else likes the board either, then I'd sell it but I'm now talking about newer boards.
