Well, i think its time to get a new board and i need a lil help. I'm about 6'2, 175. Just started last summer but i picked up on it pretty quick. Anyways i'm hopin to land some flips this summer. Any advice on a new board i should get for around $200? And by the way i'm currently using that bada$$ hyperslide matrix board Wink

definitely demo stuff before you buy it if you have the oportunity. You should be able to find a decent selection of boards in the 200 hundred dollar range. But everyone likes something different, so try to demo stuff if you get the chance

Hey novice04,

If there're no shops, try riding with some folks and ask if you can try their boards, most folks will be more than willing to let you have a go...if that doesn't work, try to get an older Belmont or similar - you'll have lots of good runs on those boards. Since you're fairly tall, maybe something from 135 on up...

Hope this helps

Wes

And i have to take a nice drive just to see a good selection of boards. I'm just hopin for some good ideas from personal experience with what others liked/disliked

I've used premiers and I love them. Great all-round board.

Heynovice04,

I'm an old guy....Ha!

Maybe stay away from the "radical" boards like the 3-stage with lots of rocker - they're just harder to learn to ride...if you stick with the Belmont/Motive from Hype or other boards with that general shape, I think you'll do OK. Hyperlite obviously is a name you'll see around as they seem to do the most advertising - doesn't mean they're the board for you - Liquid Force, Double Up, CWB, etc. all make fine boards. Try to pick up a copy of the Feb. 2004 Wakeboarding mag. as it rates all the 2004 models giving specs for each board. this way you can compare rocker and shape. They also indicate boards vs. wake shape/size. Remember, this is only a guide but as you say, if you can't demo, you'll just have to jump in somewhere...don't go with a "beginner" board as you'll quickly outgrow it...e-bay ocassionally has some good deals on used/new stuff..

Oh yeah, use the SEARCH function here on the forum, there's been lots of discussions on boards.

Hope this helps

Wes
