I have a boss tower, bimini and boardracks on my boat and they at the best. It is the only tower that I would buy. I also got the new mirror mount and it is sick.

It is no doubt the best. Quality, detail, cleanliness. They're awesome.
My freind has the Billet on his Malibu. It blows away the look of the Titan. Everywhere we go, people say how much they wish they got it.
I wish I had money.

check your warranty, some companies will void the hull warranty if don't use "their" tower

Yeah Boss is straight up quality. It is some of the best looking and most durable stuff on the market, but MAAAN you gotta pay for it. It kills me that a $3000 tower is only about $300 worth of steel piping, ok tack on another $150 for the powder coat.

you also have to figure in the cost of the facility they weld in, the cost of the employee, the cost of the expensive equipment such as benders, welding equipment, jigs, CNC machines, polishing equipment, etc.....
and then add on the retailers mark up (which is'nt much on Boss gear)......
There you have a 2600.00 tower!

If you can weld....so be it! make a cheap Boss knock-off. You'll corner the market!

GO WITH BOSS!
They were very helpfull when i ordered my CUSTOM SWOOP.
They sent out a color chart so I could match my boat perfectly.
The tower showed up within 2 weeks.
TOP QUALITY!

How long did it take to get your color chart? I have been waiting for mine so I can order a tower.

Their stuff looks real good, but I know that Nautique voids the hull waranty if you don't use nautiques tower.

I had the opportunity to go to the boss facility in Cali and there really is a differce in quality. In the back they have a junkyard of towers from all manufacturer. After seeing how the operation is run I was suprised that the towers were not more.

There is NO reason for any tower to cost as much as they do. Jim is right. A welder can supply the materials, bend, weld and mount the tower for just over 500 dollars. And thats in a shop not even set up to do it easily.
No dealer I've seen marks up towers much at all, maybe a couple hundred. The cost is from the manufac. and its outrageous! They are making a killing simply because of demand, same thing with light bars, speakers, board racks. They're all over priced, you can buy great quality PIAA lights from an auto catalog, mount them and save hundreds.
The fact is, most boat owners, myself included, don't have the knowledge or the means to have a custom one made. So we end up paying incredible prices for something not worth one quarter of that.

I have two friends that built custom towers for their Mastercrafts. The first one took them over 12 hours from the first bend to the final mount, but it turned out perfect. They spent $450 after the powder coat. The second one is still on progress, they are adding some sort of ball hinges to make it collapsable and removable. They see the ads in magazines for $3000 towers and just scuff. But they have a great bender, a plasma torch, knowledge of welding, etc.. so no doubt that option is not available to everyone.

And what is the deal with Boss speakers and lights being so expensive? Is it because they are pre-assembled and housed? Do they use components from other companies? I always considered MB Quart and Piaa to be high-end items for their respective classes, although very expensive, and Boss makes their prices look reasonable!
