Does anyone have or ride with anyone who has a Boss Tower? I recently sold an 82 Tique and got a 97. The new one doesnt have a tower and I figured this time I would get a Name Brand tower instead of a custom. Well that was until this afternnon when I was talking to with someone from a boat dealer in Texas and he said to stay away from Boss Towers. I was looking at either the Custom Swoop or the Pro Air. Any thoughts......

I have a boss on my '04 Calabria Pro V. Love the tower. Very stong, very well built. Nice craftmanship. All the accessories are also very nice. Board racks,Tower lights, Tower speakers and a strapless bimini ( 3 point mount ). Also a tower mount mirror-a very cool feature. True Boss is pricey. And with the whole CC lawsuit I don't think anyone is selling new towers right now. Just the accessories. But I have seen towers on Ebay real cheap . Someone selling them out of Cali.
A good much better priced tower is Monster tower. $995 shipped. Great customer service. Only heard good things about them. and the owner is always on the boards answering questions. Check them out www.monstertower.com

You see them on tons of Malibus as well as many other boats and I don't think I have ever heard anything bad about them. Either that dealer wanted to push you towards a brand he carried or he might have asaid that because of them going to court aginst correct craft about paying dues.

Just checked your profile. Have you considered a flight control tower? That's what I would get for your boat without a dought!!

I had also seen them on Ebay, thats what caught my eye. After about a month of watching there is finally one on there that will fit my boat (97 supersport nautique) I kinda got the feeling he just wanted to push me towards what he had but he never really said he had or sold towers which is why I began questioning it. Im looking at the Pro series, everytning Ive read on them seems legit, as for quality. The one Im looking at is Brand new but almost all that I have seen from Perinius I think it is from Cali say good or great condition, this one says its new which also got mt attention. Thanks for the info.... I think Im considering it again.

I would love a flight control but Im not really wanting to fork our 2500. or 3000. on a tower. I had my 82 equipped with a custom tower for a whopping 600 bux and it was really nice. Moneys kinda tight right now, the whole buying my first house thing so Im on a tight budget but I dunno, maybe waiting another year and saving for a flight control is the way to go. But another year of riding off of an extended pylon is going to drive me crazy.

I just bought a Boss Tower from the guy who is selling them on ebay, it was shipped quick, and it is very nice quality. I paid about 1K shipped. It had all hardware included, and was easy to install.

It's cool bro, just hit the 'post' button once, and let it post.
About the tower though, do a search on Boss, and you'll hear alot from previous posts. Also on Wakeworld.com, there was a huge thread about the quality of the Boss stuff, but the also about the problems they are having with patent infringement and past royalties due to Correct Craft.
If money is tight, then the choice is clear. www.monstertower.com ....These towers look even better in person, are extremely sturdy, fully collapsible and only $995!! Plus, Bill is a stand up guy who is always on here to help you out. Good Luck, congrats on the new boat too!

Check out my profile. It's a Boss Custom Swoop tower on a '93 MC Prostar 205. I love it. Very strong and fairly easy to install with enough people.

I would love to order a MonterTower but, once on a boat don't they look kinda BIG with the tubing at 2 1/2" ? Or do they look better in person?

Maybe if MonsterTower would have one of their many, HOT models pose with your boat after install that might sway your mind? IMHO, they have the BEST marketing in the watersport business...

Correct me if I'm wrong (I'm wrong a lot!), but isn't business at Boss Towers suspended due to non-payment to CC?

The new X-Star did go to 3", Cobalt has always used 2-1/2" and the new Skiers Choice higher end boats have gone to 2-1/2". Joystick has always been 2-1/2" and in Austrilia the Titan tower is 2-1/2".

Tyler, yes I did notice that the tubing on the new X-Star towers is at 3". The X-Star tower looks more swoshed back then the Moster Tower, maybe making it look less bulky? With the Moster Tower being at 3" tubing and more straight up (Stiffer as they call it) it may look a little bulky on a more streamedlined boat. ?

The new X-Star is 3". Monster Tower is 2-1/2" and the 2004 Moomba, Supra and Cobalt boats have moved their flagship boats to 2-1/2" as well. Most extended pylons are 2-1/2". Joystick Towers and Titan Downunder (in Austrailia) have used 2-1/2" for several years.
Larger diameter tubing is much stiffer. For us geeks, the Section & Youngs Modulus (stiffness) increses to the 4th or 3rd power (respectively) with the diameter of the tube = a little larger tube means a lot stiffer structure) It is a lot harder to bend which is one reason you dont see more of it.
Most towers on the water are 1.90" (1-1/2" Shc 40 Tube) which is the traditional tubing used for Fishing Towers and T-Tops, and hence wakeboard towers. It is readily available brushed and anodized finish which is used on most the factory towers.
Maybe that was way more than anyone cared to know

My buddy has one on his Prostar 205. It's about 3 years old and it's got joints in it at the horizontal overhead. 4 not including the breakdown joints. Here's a pic. It's really shaky and has caused his gel to crack at the mounts twice. I'm sure they've improved upon the design since. You can see them if you look carefully at the larger pic. Sorry for the size.

I have a BOSS custom swoop tower on my 04 Calabria and it seems to be well built. I have no complaints at all. I saw a couple for sale on ebay that closed for I believe less than 500 bucks.
