Whats up yall? I've never skated...ever. Actually i've made fun of skaters all my life. Well, now i have discovered wake boarding and board sports in general so i have got to do some apolijising(sp) to lots of skaters... Anyways, now I want to be as good at wakeboarding as possible so I'm looking for avenues to better myself. Skateing seems like it would help tremendously. Does it? And if So, Where do i need to start... like I said i've never ever done this stuff...

I'm not too good at wakeboarding so I can't say how much skating really helps with it, but I know it's always good to keep a board under your feet. The thing I like about skating is that you can do it anywhere, you don't need a lake or ocean or whatever. Weather plays a factor, but what boardsport isn't affected by that? I warn you now, it's harder than it looks, but if you stick with it you'll love it.

PS: We forgive you for the years of smack talking. Mr. Green

If you go to a local skateshop they should have blank deck complete setups for around $80-100. They'll have nice enuff parts for a beginner, then if you start to get hardcore into it you'll figure out what kindsa things you wanna upgrade & what you wanna keep.

HEy man I just started too, and these sites had some good info on how to choose a deck and some trick tips.

http://www.skateboard.com/default.asp

http://shop.ccs.com/catalog/browse/skate.html

http://www.skateboard-city.com/

And yeah it helps boarding a little and wakeskating a lot.

A good board suggestion (for everyone, not just him) is a popwar. I got one once and it was the best thing thats ever happened to me. It was like the highlight of my life. You can't not kickfip perfectly on one. Anyways, just though I'd let you guys know if your looking for a new deck, try a popwar.

...you really don't need to apologize because chances are while you have been making fun of skaters your whole life, they've been making fun of you too...

skateboarding is generally considered way harder than wakeboarding and its totally not as forgiving as wakeboarding. Be ready to hurt... a lot.
