This works good if you don't feel like shelling out the dough for an actual wakeskate. What kind of board is it? If you have a foam core i would take and hack off the ends with a capable power tool then throw some foam grip or grip tape on it. You don't need to worry about sealing it up on the ends either unless you don't want to kick it ghetto fabulous with yellow foam inards showing. This is how most of the people I know learned how to skate.

the one thing i liked about using an old board is that it float well, making it easier to manage when you getting ready to do a deep water start _________________ ODPC
If you just want to ride around on it barefooted just get some surf wax and put it on there. Or for skate shoes just put some griptape on there _________________ Once youre born you start dying so why not have a little fun.
