How many people think that wakeboarding carries over to the snow?
and if so, what aspects of it? _________________ umm, i farted on your mom |

Ollies feel similar, snowboards have a lot more flex and pop but you get the same effect bc wakeboards displace water and sink in. Jumps do NOT feel similar, if you carry over your release from wakeboarding to snowboarding you are going to crack your tailbone.
I definitely think style carries over from one to the other, as long as the rider is comfortable with board control on both. If a rider has a relaxed bent-knees style, it usually carries over to both sports. Also there are the 'power riders', the ones that raley-cut the wake are the same ones you see barreling down the mountain with huge strong cuts.
Your skillset obviously has to do with your style though, Im sure there are some wakeboarders throwing mobes that can hardly switch their edges on a snowboard. |

I never used to be able to carve on a snowboard. After my first wakeboarding season, (a couple years ago) I went to the mountain and out of no where, I was carving and throwing down without ever being able to do anything the previous season.
Its all about the muscle memory. _________________ I'm telling you its jobs,

I crossed over to snowboarding and had a real bad time first of all. i wakeboard with good technique and do inverts. i started on a gradial slope and could not do anything, just kept spinning round and round! i was ready to snap the board in half and go home. THEN......
i decided to go to the top of the mountain as a last go. dropped off the edge of a red run and found it quite easy because steeper requires more edge! i just went on and on. what it was was that wakeboarding involves a more progressive and aggresive edge, snoiwboarding is more gentle and balance. just remember no flat boarding, always on an edge! and weight more on the front to turn.
as for hitting jumps hitting the edge of the ski run where the piste basher has flattened the snow is a block, hopefully about 18 inches high. this you can hit as hard as you like, similar to hitting a double up, just pop straight off the top, go big as you like! you will have a nice soft landing in the powder and if you dont make it then get digging!!! spins if you do them on a board are alot different, no handle pass but hard to initiate.
you could go to a dry ski slope first to try |

yeah, i agree with most of what was said...i have been snowboarding for about 4 years and just started wakeboarding this summer...after about 2 months on the water, i could land backrolls and threes, i think there is a big carry over between the two sports _________________ umm, i farted on your mom |

| Our local "mountain" offers after 4pm season passes for $150. My goal is to be snowbaord, ALOT, like several times a week, and hopfully it will help somewhat with wakeboarding. I've never been good at inline skating or skateboarding, so I know my balance pretty much stinks. I have to imagin that snowboarding for a few months has to help some. |
