Based on flatland/tech tricks, there is not a person in the world that can hang with Rodney Mullen. His board control is from another realm. And for those that haven't seen Opinion, BUY IT, all the sections are solid but the Mullen finale will open your eyes like no other 5 minute section ever. Unbelievable, spectacular, beautiful, super-clean, and just plain NUTS. |

Ali throws down thats for sure, but I would put him more atop the list of the best stuntman skater. I bet his body is an absolute wreck.
Tony is the man, Bob and Rune can share some of his glory on the half-pipe, but I give Mullen the big prize. |

First off, don't mean to be a smartass (although I am), but it was a 25 set if I counted right, and I counted it a few times. Also, with the smartass thing. Boulala is great but look at people like Tom Penny, >>Arto Saari<<, and P.J. Ladd. They're all incredible. I admit, Boulala's part was amazing, but any drunk idiot can throw himself down a 25 set. Maybe not with so much style of course, but I found Saari's part much funner to watch than Boulala's.
Holy crap. Looks like I'm posting in the wrong thread. On topic now, Mullen is incredible, and is the reason skating is what it is today. He isn't my favorite though.
One last sidenote: Rune is better than Tony |

If he was as good as he is on rails and sets he'd get credit. It's just his style of skateboarding. (Don't get me wrong, I think he's amazing) |

yeah but you gotta give him props the dude invented the kick flip and pop shvit the starting tricks for like all skaters. with out him you couldnt do kick flip 50-50's or k-flip boardslide and then nobody would ride rails. Plus he rides rails, But have you ever seen what he does with tables. AMAZING!!!! _________________ -Nunc est bibendum! |

Uhhh, Rodney invented flip tricks, not handrails. The guys who really pushed the handrail revolution were Mark Gonzalez & Natas Kaupas. |

So does Rodney ride mini ramps? Does he do any of his special tricks or just the usual mini ramp stuff? |

Actually we probably would have those tricks you mentioned. Some smart skater would have come along and said "hey maybe i can flip the board over with my feet while i ollie, i can call it a kickflip." But maybe we would be still back a bit we might like have only just come out of old school if rodney didnt invent it when he did. _________________

I think that overall, I'm partial to tony hawk. Even tho, one is primarily vert, (but rodney is crazy, so i dont know) but I think that overall Tony is better and Rodney kicks fly ass to watch. Tony gets old after a while _________________ I'm telling you its jobs,

I think Mullen is the best skater. But i like street and that in general, if i vert skated i might like Tony more, but i never get tired of watching Rodney skate. I heard some where Rodney has won a vert comp once. _________________

ridelement2, why is everyone a sellout. If you were good at something and someone offered you $$$ and you could progress your sport and get paid well to do it at the same time, wouldn't you? That aside I think Mullen is the best by far, the stuff he does is just sick. |

infamous, comparing to skaters that dont even skate the same type is a bit hard to do ya know? A 900 is a feat to be proud of but so is hand stand flips etc.
And every one i know alot of people around here know who rodney is, even my friend who doesnt have anything to do with skating knows him. "Yeah his that dude who does all the combos". _________________

Trademark statements of ignorant little kids who know nothing about skating. News flash, NEITHER of you would be skating now if it wasn't for Tony Hawk.
If Bob owns Tony, how come he STILL can't beat him in competition? You wanna talk about overrated skaters, let's bring Bob into this. The man can't skate consistently to save his life. He gets 1st at one comp & 14th at the next. Tony skates good EVERY time.
Shawn, that's no contest. The guy has 3 moves (heelflip indy, rodeo flip, McTwist). He JUST threw a 720 at the X-Games this year, hardly owning the man who invented that trick. |

Hey Jester, I never said Tony Hawk was bad. He is by far the best vert skater ever in the world, but I just like watching Rodney do all his flips and stuff more. |

Fact: Both Tony Hawk and Rodney Mullen are two of the most definate greats of skateboarding. With out their years of hqard work skateboarding would not be how it is today. So RESPECT them as skaters who cares what they do they are just having a good time. now get yer butt outa this room and GO SKATE!!!!!!
Thats all I have to say
