So this weekend i started going for my first true grab. Before that it was always a brief tap followed by going off axis and falling. But this time my girlfriend out of the blue decides to bring a camera...didn't even know she was taking pics.

Anyway, this is the only one I've truly grabbed and landed so far...was very lucky to get it on camera. Of course this is the easiest and most basic grab, but I thought the part about getting it on camera was worth sharing....

actually that isnt the easiest grab seeing you are grabbing with your front hand, the easiest grab would be with your back hand right between you legs on the ts edge, which is an indy

sweet grab. you may wanna try to give the handle a good tug towards your waist with both hands that way the handle wont get pulled away from you. sometimes the handle will get pulled away form you causing you to go off axis or pulling you out the fornt on landing. definitely try an indy or melan since you are comfortable grabbing with the front hand.

Running with a 1987 Mastercraft 190 with the 454 engine. Totally ghetto interior but runs like a dream. As for weight, I think we had a fat seat in the back filled to only about 1100, then a 350 up inthe front. With about 6 people, but two were girls weighing in at maybe 115 lbs. So I'd say all in all about 2400 lbs in total. I figure I could put another 1000 or so without bogging the boat down too bad.

I'd like to take the credit, but it's mostly my buddy who has a serious wake-fetish that brought the fat sacs and seat.

Thanks for the support...my confidence has doubled...landed my first true W2W switch HS FS 180 yesterday, and I owe it all to just cutting hard and going balls-out.

Hey just a little tip since your just starting to jump wake to wake. Thats a solid grab but you should focus on learned to jump higher and land out in the flats. From the looks of the size of ur wake and your hieght I'd say your short changing yourself. To get higher just stand tall and straighten ur legs out. When you do this you will feel a POP as opposed to just riding up the wake. That might help you get more hang time and then you can throw sum sick grabs. Course this is all just speculation maybe ur already doing that. You ride however u want I was just throwin in my 2 cents. Peace

Personnally I think Nosegrabs are easier than indy brabs,... For a nose grab you saimply have to lift your front foot opposed to an indy where you gotta bring in both feet...

But that's just my opinion, maybe I'm a freak of nature Razz

my most comfy grab is stalefish. For 180's it's....christ I can't believe I can't think of that one. Anyway, lead hand on lead foot side of board.

i can go W2W pretty well too, but you'd be surprised what a few points will get you as far as pop goes. I'm not standing tall consistently. Let us know when you do your first invert. It's a funked up feeling, but when you nail one you'll be super stoked. I had the instructor cheering which was pretty cool. With a wake like that, just commit and have fun.

I just got my first good grab. I have been clearing the wake by about 3 feet onto the flats. I am able to get some good air and doing the grab on a regular basis. Looking for help on how to do the superman or where you are pulling the rope in to you and your board is horizontal to the water. Don't know if the superman is the correct name. Any help would be great.

I have an 85 mastercraft prostar and am definitely interested in learning more about your buddy's wake. Doesn't the boat just about sink!! I put about 1200 lbs in my boat and the water is about 4" over the swim plattform. Which basically means that the back of the boat is about 10" out of the water! I just put two sacs along the engine cover though. I have the 351 and will probably try more weight next season.

How long of a rope are you riding with?

Do you just stick your front sac under the bow then?

Any other weighting tips you have will be appreciated.

...nice grab...

Um, yeah...just got a fat seat for my b-day, so I'll be riding behind that wake all the time now (NICE!). The swim platform was just liek you said - about 4" above the swim platform, but then we put the 350 in front it wasn't so bad (2-3"). I was also being a somewhat of a boat-seating nazi and had the heaviest people up front.

It was my buddy's rope though...I think at 60 or 65 feet. My usual rope is at about 66.4 feet right now... a result of running it over a few times and patching it with various tubing ropes and what not.

Yes, fat sack right in the bow. As for other wieghing tips, I've heard some stuff about how our boats will hold the shape of the wake regardless of the whether the weight is in the front or back...unlike the 50/50 or 60/40 ratios otherwise suggested throughout the wakeboarding community. I've noticed this to be pretty true, so when it's just me and my girlie out on the boat I'll put all the excess weight in the back and not worry about the front. it's worked so far, but then again i haven't put a 1200lb fat seat in there yet without having something to counterbalance and help my boat get on the plane.

I got an 87 with a fat seat also. It throws an nice wake for the size of boat that it is. Thanks for the info. I think I will put more weight upfrot to get the job done. We have only been filling the seat to about 800 lbs, so now I know we can ad more. How much power does the 454 make?

Umm, I'm not quite sure but for some reason 375hp rings a bell. I'm sure someone else will correct me or tell me that I'm way off. In any case, until I get the carb rebuilt I think my boat's operating at about 80% of what it could.

im looking to get a fat seat for my '82. I think back then it was called the skier 19 (s&s). donno how close the wake would come to yours, but if it is even close, im going to be a happy camper.

Nice nose grab.

The key on any front hand grabs is to have the handle to your hip replacing your front hand. this will keep you on axis
