I was just wondering if you could buy a hull by itself and fix the rest of the boat by yourself Idea ....i know it sounds crazy Shocked but, My dad, one of my friends and me were wanting to build a boat sorta as a project..Can anyone help me out with an answer? Question

I don't think any major manufacturer would sell you a hull, too much liability, but I'm not sure.

im not really refering to a newer model but i was wondering more about older models....do you think manufactures would sell those?

I dont think they would sell you a hull but if they did that would be sweet.

See if you can find a boat that's been salvaged. I remember seeing somebody post a burnt Supra or CC, Can't remember what it was. Maybe something like that may work depending how screwed up it is. Check ebay or autotrader I know they pop up every once in a while.

Well I just called a Malibu dealer and their parts department is going to call me back with a price. I'm guessing it is going to be a lot. That would be sweet if it was cheap, you could just buy the hull, engine, and min to run the boat and then add things over time, like a windshield, swim platform, etc...

Yeah, I'm getting excited about it. They'll probably call me back and either say it isn't possible or that it's 20,000. So, my guess is that if you built the boat this way, it would be 20,000 for the hull, 10,000 for engine and tranny, another 5,000 in B.S. stuff like the steering wheel, etc... and finally 4,000 for the trailer. And you still wouldn't have carpet, swim platform, windshield, etc...

I have a friend thats selling a ealier model x star hull, im not sure if he still is selling it but last time i heard he was.
