Good call kimball.... that's what we used to repair a board that flew out of the back of our boat. Travelling at 100 kph...boat trailer hit a pothole.... board jumps out (that's Queenslad roads for ya). We have since learnt our lesson and either transport all boards in the tow vehicle or secure them in the boat. _________________ Dont' let go 'till you're six foot under !! |

| Yes, use epoxy other chemicals might melt the board. Do not use "hartz", i don't know if that is the right word. You can clip little peaces of fiberglass in the epoxy that way it is easier to apply the epoxy to the crack. When the epoxy is in the crack you can put a tight tape over it so you will spend less time sanding the epoxy in. |

Hey guys thanks for the help, I was really pissed I did that too my brand spankin new board on its virgin voyage. Oh well, is there any certain brand of epoxy that you can recommend? Or can anything, as long as it is marine epoxy? Im sure I got some really cool pics of hitting that bouy though, I'll try to post em later on this week. _________________ Im going muddin at waketoberfest 2004

I would say the best epoxy for board building is SD-systems epoxy SP115.
It's a clear epoxy that doesent fade in the sun. Used for laminating surfboards. I get it only in 1kg packages. West systems have good epoxys too. But i'm sure any marine epoxy will do. |

| I had to fix my board this summer I just went to home depot and got some of the 2 part epoxy. Just get the slow cure stuff it will say on the pack it cures in like and hour or something, but if you read the instructions it is really 24 hr. There is some 5 min stuff but supposedly it doesnt adhere as well. When putting it on I masked off the rest of the board w/ tape, then I just pulled off the tape and got rid of most of the excess. |
