Had a nasty toeside faceplant following a 360 yesterday, don't remember most of it, but I nearly drowned. I am a safety nut, wear a helmet for inverts, etc. Had a vest and helmet on, but was unconscious with my face in the water while the boat circled. Was wondering (what is my name, phone #, etc..) how to keep this from happening again. Considering a type I PFD,...would look pretty groovy, but I would be face up if knocked out. :?:

the harder you push in any sport increases your chance of a serious injury...bottom line your always at risk of injury.......working out will decrease your chance of body injury, working out your neck will decrease the effect of whiplash (plus u will be able to take punchs to the face with a smile) but with your head all you can really do is wear a helmet.....if you hit at just that right angle with enough force no matter what you risk serious neck and head trama.....you can also decrease the chance of serious injury with not throwing moves like 360's and inverts but what fun is that......

in the end we all die sometime so don't hold back Cool

oh yeah for your question with the class I PFD it would increase the chance of flippin you over off your face but not 100% of the time

Bogger, there is a machine that uses weights that you sit on and put your head against and move your head back and forth.

Hopefully your bros will be there to pick you up!

if you're looking for more neck support, you can also grab some dumbells and do some shoulder shrugs. they work the crap out of your traps.

put a towel on your head and lay on a bench ....lower your head and then raise it...putting weights starting from 5 lbs up to were it is to hard to do...this works VERY well ...but make sure you flip over and do the front/back/and sides as well

I would add to that to take it easy and work up gradually. Much better to take a bit longer building up the muscle in order to avoid pulling, straining, or pinching something in your neck.

midwesty has got it right.

Also, concussions don't just happen through your head impacts. I took a smack to the face on the water and had a concussion. Helmets don't always work. I question the effectiveness of a helmet at all on the water.
