A kicker is a ramp that sticks out of the water.

Your not a doofus for not knowing, wakeboarding is just lame for not staying true to the roots of where the stuff comes from and confusing newcomers with stupid names. Basically most wakeboarders will call almost any obstacle in the water a "slider".

A kicker is basically a launch ramp, some back east call them booters but it's all the same.

a kicker has transition whereas a ramp(luanch) is flat and has no tranny. sliders r more or less rails.
