is it easier for beginners to use a longer, wider board than a shorter one? Can anyone recommend a good length and width for all around skating?
Sorry to ask so many question and thanx-again. _________________ Lizzard Boarder

I would go for a middle of the scale board, then you can figure out what size you like from there. I don't think a beginner will really be able to tell much of a difference at first. _________________ things aren't that simple... |

if you can try finding a friend that will let you ride their board for a little bit or go down to sport chalet and see how different lengths feel(but dont actually think about buying a board from here) then just buy whatever length you feel comfortable. |

You can't approach skateboarding like wakeboarding where equipment makes a huge difference in your performance or learning curve. What it all comes down to is as long as you have a board and want to learn how to skate you will be able to learn. Thats the great thing about skating, you can throw together the crappiest setup ever and still go skate and learn and have a good time. I remember watching older guys killing it on wide, old school pool skates fully decked out with lappers and everything when I was young. Today those guys are skating on regular blanks and still killing it.
Eventually you'll get your preferences about what you like to skate on, but that takes time and experience!
Don't sweat so much about what you skate on, just go skate and have a good time. Thats what its all about!!!!
