Guilty....though I post here more than I should & it’s all pups, cigars and smoker.... Embarassed

Assume everyone is on forums that are more directed to their current lifestyle. I’m “less than regular” on a cigar & hockey forum, but that’s it. They’re what I’m into now, I don’t wakeboard anymore and even sold my boat a year ago. I sometimes question selling the boat, but I worried about issues with non-use(dryrot on hoses etc). I can’t even remember the last time I had the opportunity (time) to get to the lake, though that’s priorities, not so much ability. We have friends with boats that still go regular.

That said, I’ll give a quick update on the pups on the other thread.....😂

I don't think people wakeboard anymore. Smile

I probably saw less than 5 people on a wakeboard all last season at Lake Austin. I am pretty sure the cable parks are dead also. I know a number of them have added bouncy things to try and get more people to come out. I don't see how we can still have wakeboard companies trying to produce highend wakeboard products.

At our river house I still see people wakeboarding every weekend in the summer. However, nobody is throwing down like the older days they are typically older teenagers riding in their parents boats that probably ride 2-3 times a year.

I think forums in general are going away / slowing down. I still roll through here to say hi and poke around.

I didn’t have kids either, but I got old (40) and focused more on fishing. I see puddin and Darcizzle have made a cool living/hobby out of it.

Puddin… I laugh every time I hear them say that on video.

Looks like they take some great trips. I would love to spend time on a boat in FL.

We still have a decent little scene here in the Houston area. We have two events a year and have 20 - 30 boats show up. I think our wake board club is one of the last ones still going.

I went to the Houston Boat show this year. The cheapest wakeboat I saw was a Moomba for $55,000. The G25 is $200k. I don't see how people can afford that.

I think it is the viglink company that was setup years ago. I guess they have updated the system to include affiliate links to the forum text also? In the past they wrapped the outbound links only. It sure has not changed the amount of revenue I am receiving.. Maybe they are making more money now?

Confused

200k for a boat without a bed(multiple out of the elements), stove/oven & bathroom facilities...that blows my mind.

EDIT-You know what, 100K for a wakeboat blows my mind....

E.J.,
It's gotten silly. They are mostly surf boats now with tons of technology. That said, I don't see the need for them for wakeboarding. I have just as much fun behind one of these rigs as I do behind an old Barefoot Natique with a tower and waterbed for ballast. Very Happy

I did not even attend the boat show this year so I could not see the price tags on the 2019 boats. I'm sure it is up but I cannot remember a year at the boat show that I did not say to myself. How do people afford these price tags? And yet they keep going up year after year.

I pop in maybe every six months. Lifestyle/interests are so different at 42.

That said, I'm in the market for a used v-drive to surf behind... The for sale section is a ghost town!

Brent.. Craigslist might be a good place to look. The older boats and a suction gate will do the trick. I have probably sold 200+ of the Nauticurl gates.

Im looking at a condo in a college town and the condo is just 10-20K more than the 2018 LSV..

The condo will actually be cheaper on a monthly basis than the boat because of the $750 boat slip. If I were not splitting this with a buddy no way would I have a boat on the water these days.

Thanks!
I've combed CL, fb marketplace, boattrader, and onlyinboards.

Onlyinboards is really nice to filter out all the I/Os with the wrongs tags etc.

Thanks for watching.
LOL, that Puddin' thing got started from me actually trying to eat decent and not having a pint of Ben & Jerry's at night but instead a tiny half cup of jello pudding. People seem to like it and I actually have received 4-5 hats with "Puddin" on it.

Trips/travelling has been on hold for about 6 months bc we are taking care of Darcizzle's terminally ill with cancer father who lives with us. It's been quite a drag but for better or worse, seems to be coming to it's inevitable conclusion.

THEN, with all my dogs having passed on, we are hooking up the boat trailer and going on a road trip. So stay tuned. Smile

Anyway...kinda peculiar and special that this place has survived at all since "the crash" and before. Aubs I think just moved to TX. She moved to FL a while back and is really the only person I've met in person from here, and that Australian guy!

Just thought...do you guys follow each other on FB? I'm Brian Bedell.

Peace.

I think I started coming to this site at age 16... now I'm 32... kinda amazing that I still check in every couple months...

I don't think wakeboarding has anything to do with it. I used to come to this site regularly for advice and entertainment... after a while i became so accustomed to what people would say, almost like a family, that I started going elsewhere for advice and entertainment.

Partyb, - just friended you on FB. I think most of us still poking around on here are FB friends as well.

jt09, - you still have the road bike or just the BMX style?

Oh, I'm going wakeboarding in May. Our club in Houston (GCWA) is still going strong. We still have two festival style events per year.

got rid of the road bike. my body just can't handle the positioning for that long and the shoes kill me (i've got fugged up feet). it's way more fun to roll w/ these guys too - road bike is so serious, and riding w/ these guys is all fun. wheelies and peg stands (them, not me) on the way to the next safety check.

The Nauticurl is what I have been selling the most of. I would get one of those for the price.

For surf I dont have anything in stock for 2019. I can get phase 5 or some doomswell stuff and just dropship that direct to you. I ride the doomswell and I like those boards. I do like the phase 5 for skim style boards.

I can get you ronix, LF or HL stuff also.

I'm glad I popped in here for the first time in maybe a year?!

Haven't wakeboarded in years - still snowboarding and skiing with my kids. However, ALOT more cautious, getting old hurts.

Miss you all!

I've been on a few pontoon boats in the past few years also.. Smile

Has anyone traded in the wake boat for a large cabin cruiser? I large over night boat on Lake Travis would be nice. I would not mind going in 1/2 or 1/3 on a large boat docked on Lake Travis.

I moved to Seattle where lakes in the mild summers are as cold as Barton Springs. The last time I got to spend time with a wakeboard pro was in the Travis county probation offices lobby. Sup Billy G!
