I've been trying to read up on boats as much as possible and am trying to stick to top 3 brands within a 20-30k price range. There are several options outside of that range, but that's because there isn't much below 30k and the more expensive boats included are half a decade older that most of the boats in my price range.
Needs:
Rough water ride, will be using it on a pretty rough lake.
Wake/Surf ability, but am not picky about wake because I grew up on Crownlines and have never had a wakeboat. Don't mind adding sacks and other devices to make it better over time.
V-Drive, for space and better wake
Here's what I'm looking at now:
1999 X-Star $19,000, 1,200 hours
21'

Don't know if this is a good deal given the hours (1200).
2000 Sanger V210 Wake 25,000
21'

Thinking this is the best option now, but don't know if this is a good deal or not?
2001 Malibu Wakesetter 23LSV, $28000
23

Bigger at least. Seems expensive?
2004 Mastercraft X2, $31,000
21'

2006 Malibu Ride, $32,000
21'
https://spokane.craigslist.org/boa/5523523401.html
I've heard Rides are crappy in rough water due to flatter hull, but I've also read that about some of the boat models I have listed. Any perspective on which models from the top 3 might be better in rough water?
2006 MC X-Star 32,000, but described as "not perfect" on dealer site?

Has a crazy wrap. Are these easily removed?
2005 MC X-10, $33,500
21'
https://kpr.craigslist.org/boa/5518155598.html
Newer and seems like a decent deal?
Thanks for the help! |

Given your list I would probably choose the X-10. just because of the rough water. It wakeboards pretty well and surfs not too bad.
I'm not a fan of the X-star, unless it's weighted with an additional 2500-3000 pounds it's completely worthless. Terrible surf wake.
The X-2 and V-ride would be my top choices with the X-2 being number one for wakeboarding and has a decent surf wake on the port side. Not great in rough water though.
The LSV 23 foot might be a good choice, I don't have any experience with it though. _________________ Don't do anything rash.....and don't do anything to get a rash... |
