Had a good time in Steamboat Springs, but we didn't go out at all. Just the hotel, which had a restaurant and bar, the arena and a coffee joint. Think I also had a positive experience because we went undefeated and the LO had 13 goals in the first 3 games...
Colorado sucks balls at taking care of their roads during/after significant snow storms. Maybe Utah is just really good, but I thought Colorado was flat out negligent.
Good to see the West getting dumped on. I broke out the snow blower at home on Monday for the first time in 2 years after getting a solid 6" in the driveway. Actually had to use the electric start to get the thing running. |

Putting together a trip for later this week. 4 early 30s guys. Looking for a place in Colorado with skiing, lodging, restaurants, and bars all within walking distance and some night life. Relatively close airport (doesn't have to be served by airlines) is a plus, but Telluride and Aspen airports make me nervous.
Recs? |

vail meets your reqs. fly into eagle county airport - it's not tucked up next to the mountain like aspen is, but it is 30+ min to vail from there. tons of car services that will shuttle you as well. https://goo.gl/qD3iIm |

We discussed this at lunch and narrowed it down to Beaver Creek or Vail and flying into Eagle County. I've never been to Beaver Creek or Vail. Of the other 3 going, 1 has been to Vail and 2 to Beaver Creek, but no one has been to both. Is staying at/in Vail the better idea? |

for nightlife and dining, yes - stay in vail. there's a marriott right smack in the middle of town if you've got points/miles/whatever w/ them. it's nothing to stay at one and hit up the other for a day if you want to try both. same as driving to snowmass from aspen. |

After to talking to a couple of guys in Denver, it looks like we're going to do Breck instead. It's further from the airport, but the town is supposedly much better than Vail for restaurants and night life. Both guys said Vail is the best skiing, especially the backside if you're a very good skier. We're once a year skiers so Vail's backside may be above our skill level. Plus one member of our group may spend more time taking advantage of the bars and dispensaries than skiing. |

jt09, I'll be sitting in the back. Taking the bigger plane and insurance won't cover me as PIC without more hours. |

So in Aspen 2 out of 3 weeks. Place is growing on me. Aspen Square kills, have to make sue they give you a great unit, but location can't be beat. Fireplace, yea, cool bonus!
If you're in Glenwood Springs and need breakfast, "Daily Bread" may be the best breakfast I've ever had. Mom and Terrorist heading out after our meal.

Aspen twice, Steamboat, Jackson Hole, Sun Valley and now Crested Butte(first time). Throw in Vegas, Denver and another trip to Idaho....not a bad hockey year so far....and that's just the Terrorist.
Looking forward to seeing Crested Butte(Gunnison). |
