He's got a good idea, I guess he's forced to couch it such that the baptists don't rise up against him in the next election.

Nothing wrong with poppy until its refined in to something much harder like heroin. If you ask me opium use should be legal as well.

Its funny how once something is banned the typical course is for a refined version that up the potency so those that sell illicit substances can spread it a bit wider.

Agreed. I was just pointing out the absurdity of getting his sheeple on board by invoking god the creator. Pretty sure he doesn't have the political capital to legalize poppy and coca, even though god presumably made those as well.

What makes this bill unique is that it is quite the opposite approach the other 'legal' states took. While they passed laws that create very specific guideline of how pot can be grown, sold, used, held, and taxed, the Texas bill simply stikes the substance from the law books all together, making pot equal to a tomato. No limits on sale, growth, and most importantly, no overbearing tax.

IMO this will kill the bill because the greedy will want to exploit the stoner tax base, like the other states.

Or... it will make Texas a TON of money by running the table on growth\sales.

This shouldn't be surprising, but it is. The Republicans scream all they want about being for small government and the party of liberty, but it's pretty much crap. This is a HUGE step in the right direction. I just don't think it will pass. We still have blue laws here.

Been real interesting up here. Price has cratered in WA with over supply.

The pols are trying to adjust the tax regime to max revenue. Kinda a cluster F

^Well put.

Oregon Pols are freaking out because we are coming on line later in the year and the revenue projections keep jumping all over the place.

Anecdotally, I do know of two cases of people locally being fired for showing up stoned to work. There response, "its legal man". Gonna be a long road.

haha... that's terrible. Drinking is legal, but I can't show up to work drunk. Man, you have to wonder about people sometimes. Also, if it was legalized in Texas doesn't mean I could go smoke. My company still has a drug free policy.

I think the company drug policy does not apply to drugs for which you have a valid prescription. Idea

I do know someone at Chevron that had to go to substance abuse counseling because she took some cough syrup (codeine) that was issued to her but was 1 + yr old (script no longer valid) -- everyone knew this lady in no way ever took any drugs and this was absurd, but HR had to enforce policy and chose to let her off with the counseling.
