I need this weather to clear so i can get out on the pavement. Been doing spin class on non-lifting days to prepare my ass and legs for some slow twitch action. It's a balmy 8 here today and I'm halfways thinking about putting on the winter gear and getting out there.

gorgeous bike...very nice. We've been riding on 30-ish days here near Nashville. I'd happily ride into the 20s if the f-ing wind wasn't so strong lately. We did a group ride, 40 degrees and overcast that was absolutely miserable because the wind was 25mph gusting to 35. The street signs were shaking. BTW, your dog's expression is killing me. Very Happy

jt09, lucky girl!! Great bike...you guys ride together sometimes? Now that spring is breaking you could do a daddy date at Town Lake? (wow, I miss that place...[/sigh])

Hole? There's actually stairs there, the angle makes it look like it just drops off. That's my stair halfpipe. Or are you talking about the hole in the wall in the middle of the limestone? That goes through into the kitchen.

Magic, looks like we have the same saddle! I don't think I fully understand track racing, but they have some pretty gnarly wipeouts. 2 bikes + race wheels??? The price on such a simple concept just blows me away. Carbon frame, no brakes, components, freewheel, etc.... bike looks slick though! Where do you put the water bottle? Laughing

bump for new bike! first full on road bike. fuji altimira 3.0 - carbon fiber w/ 105 drivetrain and look keo pedals. performance had a sale so i got a hell of a deal - regularly $2530, sale price $1600. w/ the $30 buyer's club membership, i got a 10% store credit, which allowed me to take home the pedals and a new pair of shoes for free. sold the tricross for $1200, so only out ~$500 to upgrade bigtime. crappy tires, and the wheels aren't great, but i can put a couple of hundred miles on them before i start upgrading.

Screw that. I put mine in the granny gears on both sides to show just how much of a puss I am.

help me buy some new tires.

going to be picking up a new wheelset soon and need some good rubber to go w/ them. i typically ride 20-35mi at a time, do 3-4 40ish mi charity rides a year and the ms150. can be as fat as 220 at times.

here's what comes up at performancebike.com when i filter for road, 22-23mm, <$77:
Continental GatorHardshell Road Tire http://www.performancebike.com/bikes/Product_10052_10551_1119149_-1_400235__400235

what wheels are you getting?

also, as I said on the other place, I like my gatorskins, but I can tell a difference between them and a better rolling tire on certain roads. It took a little getting used to.

not 100% sure just yet. new consignment shop in town and he owner is on our ms150 team, so he's keeping an eye out for me. right now he's got a pair of mavic elites for $150 that retailed at $600. i didn't mention it on shaggy because i don't want anyone going there and buying them out from under me! Whoa! I've been away about 18 months, come back to post about cycling, and this cycling thread is on the top page!

Tires: I've destroyed a tire about every 6 months the last two years (crate staples, bailing wire, etc), so I don't consider them an investment or spend much energy shopping for them. I've been using the ubiquitous Cont GP4000 and keeping a spare handy (I even strapped a spare tire under my seat for the Miami 70.3 I did in Oct). Most of the tri folks I know use the gator skins. Performancebike.com has the gator skins for $50. Good deal, I think.

I've been riding a lot and just moved back to TX from Tampa. I hope to get into some races (ITT and tris, I think). Glad to see much of the old group is still around...I've even missed some of the nonsense around here. Laughing

nice tball!

new high end bike consignment shop in town: shift gear exchange - on burnet, right next door to austin canoe & kayak http://shiftgearexchange.com/

grabbed my new(ish) wheelset from there - pair of mavic ksyrium elites w/ an ultegra cog and some new gatorskins (went for durability over speedy) for just under $300 out the door. they're pretty damn light. plus, i consigned my old wheelset to them so i should get $100+ back on that.
